Christopher Benhatzel, DO

Christopher Benhatzel, DO, is a dedicated physician who focuses on caring for the whole patient—not just their condition—through personalized, compassionate treatment. “I approach my relationship with patients as a partnership grounded in trust, empathy and open communication. I believe in listening with intentionality, offering honest, evidence-based guidance and supporting each person in making decisions that align with their values and goals,” Dr. Benhatzel said. “My role is not to direct, but to walk alongside patients with compassion, humility and respect for their autonomy.”

Dr. Benhatzel has built a well-rounded and academically rigorous foundation in medicine. He earned his psychology degree from John Carroll University in 2014 and completed a master’s in medical health science at Touro University Nevada in 2015. He received his medical degree from Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020, where he also completed a teaching fellowship in osteopathic …manipulative medicine.

He completed his internal medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in 2021, followed by a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at The Ohio State University in 2024, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Benhatzel then completed a pain medicine fellowship at Ohio State in 2025, further specializing in the comprehensive care of patients with acute and chronic pain.

He chose physical medicine and rehabilitation as his specialty because he finds deep purpose in helping people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. “There’s something incredibly meaningful about working alongside patients as they regain function, reduce pain and reclaim their independence,” Dr. Benhatzel said.
