Dr. Christopher Bickford, MD

Dr. Bickford is an excellent doctor. He is no longer in an office on La Jolla Blvd. Is there the possibility of seeing him as a patient in another location at :UCSD of Scripps?

My experience with Dr. Bickford and his office staff have always been pleasant, as indicated by these marks. Your experience may of course vary.I have been seeing Dr. Bickford for about 7 years, mostly, but not exclusively, for annual physicals. I am very fortunate to rarely be ill or need urgent care, so I can't speak for many other circumstances like needing to get in quickly for an appointment.If you are looking for a fancy modern office, this is definitely not the place for you. The office experience would surely be better with some renovations. This is not that important to me, so I have stayed because of what I write below.My experience has been:- I very much like the office staff and how they treat me. They are nice, considerate, and courteous, but not fake nice or too nice. Professional. When my insurance poses a challenge, they are always interested in working with me to resolve it (more so than I actually even feel they should be expected to), and they do what they said they… are going to do. I volunteer to pay while the insurance hedges, and when the insurance finally paid, they quickly cut me a refund check.- They don't ignore me if I'm waiting in the waiting room a little longer than normal, or in a patient room, but keep me advised and express concern that it has been a little long (which is a rare case). I'm made to feel like my time is important to them. I rarely ever have to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes once I am at the office. For the reverse case, I have occasionally been late due to traffic, and I call while I am on the way warning them, and they are very amicable about it, working with me to figure out what to do.Dr. Bickford himself spends more than a reasonable amount of time with me going over my results in detail. He seems genuinely fine to answer every one of my pedantic questions, and is not obviously struggling to get out of the room as I see many doctors do, nor is he constantly interrupted while speaking to me.

I highly recommend Dr. Bickford. You are not just a rushed number when you visit him. Instead you feel like a human being. He focuses on preventing problems taking needed time to know you and what you need to be healthy. A wise private doctor you can trust - I wish I had found him years ago.

My last experience was the most horrible and unprofessional from this doctor. Over the phone he was verbally abusive and his behavior is suspicious.Ridiculous charges to talk to me on the phone 150.00! And informed me of this charge with his abusive behavior when he was finished yelling at me and then hung up on me! Billed me 59.00 for calling my pharmacist to renew a prescription! My experience with Dr. Bickford did not start out in this way but he and his staff has dramatically changed in a manner that it should be investigated!I would have at one time suggested this doctor to anyone who needed a nice and professional doctor and now because of my past wonderful experience, well I would not send my anyone to him!
