Dr. Christopher Brooker, MD

was referred to Dr. Brooker through workers’ compensation for a left-wrist injury I suffered on June 10, 2024. My experience was unacceptable. It took 9 months just to get an MRI (finally done on 3/21/25) that showed serious findings suggesting ligament damage. Then my care was delayed even further: my case manager confirmed in writing that I had to wait for Dr. Brooker to come back from vacation (until 6/9/25) before they would schedule me. This added weeks of unnecessary delay, even though Roper St. Francis has four hand specialists on staff who could have seen me sooner. By the time I finally saw Dr. Brooker on **8/07/25—14 months after my injury—**he dismissed the MRI’s serious findings and reduced my condition to a simple “sprain,” relying mainly on X-rays and a fist test. His own restrictions (no repetitive use of the left hand, no lifting more than 5 lbs) showed he knew I wasn’t fully healed, yet his written diagnosis minimized the seriousness of my injury. Workers’ comp… patients already face enough obstacles. To delay my care 14 months, force me to wait for a doctor to return from vacation, and then have the MRI’s most serious findings brushed aside is simply unacceptable. Patients deserve timely, thorough, and accurate care—not delays and dismissals.
