Dr. Christopher C. Destephano, MD

After several negative experiences with Dr. Destephano, I would recommend seeking care with a more knowledge doctor in the area of endometriosis. Unfortunately, his bedside manner was subpar and recommendations did not match recent research in this area of expertise. While he did diagnose and prescribe (Pelvic PT, MRI, & Botox injections), the main pain generator would have never been addressed without a second opinion being sought out. The MRI had to be sub-specialty over-read where numerous areas of endometriosis were found that were missed on the initial MRI. Wide excision surgery was quickly scheduled with another surgeon with expertise in the field, who also ran many more tests prior to the procedure (including a deep pelvic ultrasound). Many areas of deep infiltrating endometriosis would have been left untreated if a second opinion was not obtained through another Mayo doctor at a different location. Not all Mayo doctors have the same expertise and patients must advocate… for themselves!

I met with Dr Destaphano and feel confident with his expertise and care. I believe he will continue to treat me with respect and attention for my health.
