Dr. Christopher Michael Farmer, MD

Totally unprofessional.

Will not see him nor recommend him to anyone...totally unprofessional.

I am my elderly father's primary caretaker, and our previous physician at Scott & White recently retired, whom we both really liked. We met with Dr. Farmer and we have both been impressed by his demeanor and excellent communication ability. My dad is a bit hard of hearing, and Dr. Farmer's calm, patient, and clear enunciation is very easy for my dad to understand, giving him peace in the doctor's office. While other doctors seem to be in the middle of a marathon when you visit with them, Dr. Farmer acts like we are his only appointment that day, which we know is not the case. My dad and I were both relieved that we could find a doctor that we could both agree on!

When I arrived (on time) for my first appointment with Dr. Farmer, there was a very long line at check in. I waited 20 minutes in line, but the front desk staff was very apologetic and friendly. After a short wait, I was roomed by a very friendly nurse. She took my BP and seemed concerned. She asked me if my BP was always low because she had a reading of 80/50. I assured her that that could not be correct and had her try again. On her second try, she read 100/60. A little concerning, as this is a task that she is likely performing 30+ times per day. Dr. Farmer came into the room after a short wait. He sat down and asked me why I was there. I explaine that I had no health concerns but had just set the new patient appointment to establish care. He said, "We'll you're going to have to reschedule because you we're 25 minutes late. There's a lot that goes into establishing care. It takes about 30 minutes. I have to do a full history." His tone was scolding and rude. I… explained that I had arrived on time but that there was a log line at check-in. He said that that was ok, and we could continue with the appointment. He then proceeded to ask me history questions for no more than 3 minutes, followed by a 5 minute exam. He told me to book lab work, but that I didn't need to come see him again for a well visit until I was over 40 (in three years). He can be assured that I will not be coming back to see him any time soon.
