Christopher Randall Gelvin, MD

I just had the worst experience in my entire medical history and I am 69 yrs old. I recently moved to Sarasota area and was unable to find an experienced doctor that was still accepting Medicare patients. So I decided to join MDVIP and chose Dr Chris Gelvin as my physician. The problem occurred during the initial medical history meeting. I have always maintained my health with annual check up, mammograms and other tests. So in other words I am very aware of my health. Based on a medication I was on for anxiety for 6 months he jumped to a conclusion that I was bipolar. I was shocked. I told him that was not correct. When I looked at the online notes there it was. I told him to remove it and he said only if my psychiatrist gave him her notes. Never in my life have I met a doctor that was so arrogant and aggressive. Needless to say I changed doctors. He doesn’t listen and is not empathetic. Simply horrible experience.

Very happy with staff and Dr Gelvin. Very considerate and thorough in his evaluation and treatment. Overall Excellent person and professional. Staff is also terrific who compliment his practice very much.

He is a caring doctor who takes time to diagnose. Certainly in my case he is the finest diagnostician I've ever gone to. He is thorough in his examining every potential health risk. He is an outstanding internist in my opinion. I have been going to Dr. Gelvin for 17 years and I am 83. He pulled me through some difficult situations.

Dr Gelvin is a caring professional who spends considerable amount of time discussing treatments wit the patient I strongly recommend him.

Very disappointed in Dr. Gelvin. Needed a script for my mammogram and was told that I needed a complete physical in order for him to give me a script for my mammogram. Been going to him since 1999, but because I hadn't been sick in the past 4 years, he said I needed a physical which my insurance doesn't won't pay for a "well" physical. I am also a breast cancer survisor with no mammagram this year!!! I guess he needs the money to pay for his new office.
