Dr. Koterwas
Dr. Koterwas completed his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP) in 1998. After graduating with honors with a BS in biochemistry from UMCP, he attended the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where he was selected for membership in several honorary societies and graduated with honors in 2002.
Immediately following dental school, Dr. Koterwas was selected from almost 300 applicants for one of four positions for the Stony Brook University Postgraduate Orthodontic program where he graduated again with honors. Dr. Koterwas has an ongoing commitment to continuing education through courses, conferences and seminars and has continued these educational endeavors upon graduating from his postgraduate program. Dr. Koterwas believes that education and the pursuit of excellence is a lifelong endeavor. He continues to interact with the top professionals in the field of dentistry and orthodontics.
In 2007, Dr. Koterwas obtained the American Board …of Orthodontics' board certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board. It is the Association of Orthodontists' highest level of achievement. Only a limited number of orthodontists have this certification.
Dr. Koterwas is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Maryland State Association of Orthodontics, Maryland State Dental Society, Patuxent Dental Society, and the St. Mary's Dental Study Club.
On a personal note, Dr. Koterwas is married to Joanne. They have three wonderful sons - Zachary, Austin and Cameron. Dr. Koterwas loves spending time with his family when he is not practicing orthodontics.
