Dr. Christopher Mantyh, MD

Dr mantyh removed my appendix due to a suspected mass. He provides excellent care throughout the entire process. There were no complications with the procedure and the incisions are barely visible.

I was 110% happy with Dr. Mantyh's treatment of me for a nagging hemorrhoid problem. He recommended and performed ligation (rubber band strangulation) on my first and only visit to his office at Duke. This has been totally sucessful and I have avoided surgery. I could not be more satisfied with him and his staff.

Made me feel like I was wasting his time. Did a procedure without taking time to explain why. Complications afterward were reported to his staff twice and never received a response. He was so rude and dismissive I wanted to cuss him out. Must have flunked bedside manner. No interpersonal skills.

Smart, knows his stuff, prob a great surgeon...but didn't care much about what I had to say.

I had several appointments with Dr. Mantyh and discussed fully my concerns. Another surgeon referred me to him because I have a very complex issue. After taking all the test recommened, I finally had to show him were my fistula was located, but that really wasn't why I was sent to him, another surgeon had gone in to repair the fistula but after doing an exam of my colon he noticed some several openings but couldn't find the communication. He elected not to do any surgery at that time but referred me to Dr. Mantyh. I went in for surgery today and was told that all he was going to do was repair the fistula that I showed him earlier I asked if he would do an exam of my colon which is why I saw him in the first place, he said no. The worst part of this was that he stood behind the curtain of my room signed his paperwork and didn't even put his head to speak to me. I asked the nurse to find him because I had concerns, he stated that concerns were addressed at our hour appts. I elected not… to have the surgery. I drove two hours for this appointment. I would never recommend him.

He does not follow up with patients very well,especially if there are complications.Passes them off to other doctors.Would not recomend him!

Dr.Mantyh did a colon resection for me in Sept 2009. This was a repair made necessary by sloppy work that another surgeon did in 2008. Needless to say I was concerned about the outcome. Colon surgery is not fun. To make a long story short his repair work, so far, is flawless. I say so far, because I am sceptical of the whole process after the initial failure. I would recommend this doctor to anyone
