Dr. Christopher D Olenek, DO

I've been going to East Side Urgent Care for the last 3 years. Dr Olenek is, in my view, the best doctor in Vero Beach. He explain his diagnosis of whatever current issue I may have so it is easily understood and he is relentless in solving whatever problem I bring to him that day. I'm glad I found Dr Olenek.

I wish I could tell you about Dr. Olenek, but I never saw him. I arrived on time for my 9:30AM appointment. At 10:18 I left without being seen. Very poor.

I was told by my neurosurgeon that medical marijuana would ease my 3 years of chronic pain. I called Dr. Oleneks office and described the situation in great detail. They said I should come in. I did. I again explained why I was there. They told me to wait. Then they came back and gave me 5 pages to fill out and insisted on scanning and keeping a picture of my debit card. I was sent in to see the doctor. An assistant came in who DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH and SHE filled out a chart by trying to communicate with me, but settled on copying my own forms that I'd filled out. Then the doctor finally came in and quickly said I didn't qualify for MM but wrote out a "prescription" to go to a hippie headshop. I did and they were giddy that 'Doc Olenek" sent them another patient. The doctors office KNEW they couldn't help me but pretended to make an exception for me, wasted my time and charged me $250.00! He's rude and a fraud!

Upon arrival, I explained to the medical receptionist that I had been referred by another patient for a specific medical treatment alternative. She asked me if I had any of the prerequisite medical conditions that would qualify me and I told her that I did not. My medical issues are quite rare. I shared with her what my medical problems were and she paused and then told me that she would discuss it with the doctor. 10 minutes later she returned and said, "Let me get you to fill out these forms and then we can get you in to see the doctor." She also took a copy of my debit card in advance. Another 20 minutes of waiting later (and watching an irate patient argue with the doctor and staff over billing problems in the lobby) and I was taken into an examine room to wait another 20 minutes. When the doctor arrived, he asked me to describe my medical problems to him, after which he told me that I didn't have any of the prerequisite conditions (which he knew from the beginning), couldn't… participate in the treatment and suggested I buy Pepcid AC as a ridiculous suggestion to my terminal medical conditions. Upon leaving, $200 was charged to my debit card. I sincerely feel that I was scammed and taken advantage of. I had explained during the short consultation that I was recently laid off my job (as my place of employment had a fire and closed down) and surviving off a small unemployment check. Knowing this while also knowing before I was even seen that I didn't qualify for the medical treatment, I feel that this office has lost sight of fulfilling their Hippocratic Oath to do no harm. They KNEW they couldn't help me but pretended to make an exception for me while really only wasting an hour of my time and taking 2 weeks of food from me while I'm already struggling. Think twice before allowing yourself to be mistreated and abused by this office or Dr. Olenek. And if they do, don't be afraid to contact the AMA, Better Business Bureau and let them know that this doctor takes advantage of the sick and dying for his profit.

I actually used to work at this office. Dr Olenek was the most mean spirited, demeaning employer I ever had. He yells at his staff constantly, even pulling them into patient rooms to berate them in front of the patient. He throws clipboards around his office and slams doors when he gets upset. We had numerous patients apologize to us on their way out of the office because they felt terrible for the way he treated and spoke to us. Terrible person. Wouldnt wish his care on my worst enemy.

Dr. Olenek is one of the few Drs. I have seen that actually takes time and cares for you. He is very personable, kind and thorough. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a family doctor that is available,highly qualified, follows through.

Both my husband and I have been going to Dr. Olenek for over three years now. He is our primary physician. I firmly believe that I am alive now because of Dr. Olenek. Because of him my thyroid cancer was discovered in time to cure me. Because of him the blood clots in my lungs were discovered after I was released from IRMC following abdominal surgery. He is an amazing diagnostician and a true healer in the full sense of the word. He listens to his patients and he has always been spot on in any problem that my husband and I have experienced. He and his staff are extremely professional and I have always felt very comfortable in his office.Thank you, Dr. Olenek, for being the gifted healer that you are. Vero Beach is so lucky to have you!
