I had an Open Thoracotomy in October, 2016. My surgery eS done on a Friday but because I was doing so well, I was discharged on Monday. My one and only complaint about Dr. Riordan is his policy on pain control. I am a person that rarely takes an aspirin but let me tell you, I had MAJOR post/op pain and was sent home on 3 (yes 3!!!!!) days of pain meds. ONG, are you kidding me, after an open thoracotomy??? When I called the office to request just a few more days worth to get me through the night, they said no, making me feel like a drug abuser. Being a straight-laced RN, I was appalled and humiliated. Please, if you are having an open thoracotomy , check with your physician before surgery to discuss post-op pain control. I am 6 months post surgery and still in pain. I hope this helps!! Dr. Riordan is one of the nicest professionals I have met. He is kind, considerate, and lives up to his many credentials. I felt at ease knowing he would perform my surgery and had faith in his knowledge and expertise. He came highly recommended by my PCP.
