He's just amazing

I had about 4 or 5 visits with Dr. Unger before switching to another doctor. Every visit he was always multitasking. Either on the phone or dealing with another patient, popping his head in every now and then asking if you are ok. He is very energetic but its over the top to the point that makes it almost uncomfortable. Did not appreciate getting undressed and then having a student doctor sent in to practice taking my vitals without prior approval.

I am surprised to see the comments about Dr. Unger pushing services. Dr. Unger has been my family doctor for more than a decade. I love his bedside manner, caring nature, and gentle approach. He will even call our house to check in after an illness to make sure things are going well. How many doctors do THAT now adays?

"Always remember 50% of all doctors are below average."I went to Dr. Unger for an FAA 3 Class physical. This the simplest of all FAA physicals. I have one of the leading cardiologist as my doctor. Dr. Unger was trying to get me change to him as my cardiologist. He kept trying to $ell me more $ervices that I did not need. I had my annual physical two weeks earlier with a complete blood tests, 3 pages long and covered everything. He did not want to use information from those tests, he wanted to do his own (more Money for him). He wanted me take more test, which I declined.He called me today to try and get me to take more tests which I do not need. He said I had several problems, which I knew were not problems. I am in good physical condition and not over weight, but yet he wanted to come in and discuss changes in my life $tyle. I declined.He does not take Medicare or some other insurances. Hi$ prices are, at best, a few dollars le$$ than other doctors.He is always coming on as your best… friend and doctor. He $elling the Snake Oil in the form of $ervices.

My review may seem a little odd since most of the ratings I gave him are good, yet the overall was poor, why?The difference here is that the individual ratings I gave were when I had appointments with the doctor while covered under insurance. The man was always extremely courteous, forthright, and knowledgeable. I was always very happy with him until the day I my insurance changed.Then his true face came out!The office unfortunately did not take my new insurance (not my choice to switch by the way) and I was going on a trip and needed a refill on asthma medication that I have been on since I was 5 years old and Dr. Unger had been filling for me for 2 years previously. I was going to be forced to switch doctors anyway and he understood this, but I desperately needed the refill ASAP due to traveling, so a minor favor from doctor to patient that would have cost him NOTHING and saved my life (seriously, if I have an Asthma attack while away, I could be hospitalized or worse).His response?… A flat out "no" unless I come in to the office. I might have been willing to do this and paid the office visit fee myself, but this man went one step further and required a full physical at a cost of over $300! This doctor didn't care for a moment about my circumstances, all he can apparently see is $$$. Bottom line, if you're a current patient, Dr. Unger is a pretty good physician, just don't believe his friendly manner is genuine, because he will NOT do you any favors when you most need one.
