Dr. Christy Capone, PhD

I saw Christy Capone, Ph. D., for a PTSD C & P exam at the VA hospital in Providence, RI. I was referred there by NHCNE. $608.92 was the price the VA billed Tricare and $515 was paid out. She spent an hour with me. We discussed the most traumatizing event in my life, but because of the rapport she builds during our appointment, I felt as though I was talking about something far removed, in a land so distant from my present reality. She has a very calming and inquisitive nature. I deeply appreciate her sensitivity regarding this event that wreaked havoc on pretty much everything in my young adult life. Maslow considered self-actualizing people to possess "an unusual ability to detect the spurious, the fake, and the dishonest in personality, and in general to judge the people correctly and efficiently." I would say Dr. Capone is astute and that I could not have asked for a better C&P examiner. I had come to her thinking I was internally defective; after all, I had been pegged as… having Other Personality Disorder Not Specified with strong Borderline, Narcissistic, and Histrionic traits. I shared this with her, of course, and she actually asserted that I did not have this pervasive PD. Only later did I realize the reason for this diagnosis: my psychiatrist (not Capone, a different person) wanted to spare herself further paperwork on my case. A PD is an easy diagnosis to make, and for someone who wants to save further investigative proceedings, it proves a valuable stalwart to any tort claim. Needless to say, all this is really not that important in the grand scheme of things. I wrote this as an endorsement for Dr. Capone, and I reassert that the quality of health care she delivers is outstanding.
