I saw Dr. Matthews for a little over 2 years. I have worked with 5 therapists at various times but Dr. Matthews helped me to make the most progress. I found her through a referral from a dear friend who is also a mental health professional in the same community. Dr. Matthews' demeanor was comforting and non-judgmental while holding me accountable for being honest with myself. The interest she shows in your conversation is obviously genuine. Located in a small Decatur cottage with no receptionist and seldom other patients in the waiting area, her practice is professional but not cold and clinical. Having a few minutes of quiet before an appointment was an unexpected perk - I loved having a few minutes of separation between high-speed life and my session to get in the right mindset. She is consistently on time and organized. I would and have recommended her as a resource for others searching for a therapist to progress to a healthier, more peaceful state of mind.
