Dr. Clara Teresita Perez, MD

Dr. Perez is the kind of psychiatrist that will give you the perfect balance of AMAZING talk therapy and meds management. She has excellent bedside manner, and a wonderful personality; which is genuinely caring and warm. She used her intelligent and (in my opinion) innovative mind to get me on a smart regiment of medication, that for the first time in my life (after taking others that had either made me feel lethargic, or manic) actually stabilized my moods. It’s six years later, I no longer need therapy, but I remain on the meds that she advised (now filling through my internist), and I’m as happy, and as mentally and emotionally healthy, as ever. I wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without her. I can honestly say this. Before I saw Dr. Perez (and I saw her for almost 3 years), I felt completely lost, and had been through many different combinations of medications, and saw a few other psychiatrists. I am beyond grateful for the time that I spent in her chair. She is… truly one of a kind. I had returned to college and was freshly single (dealing with a messy divorce and custody situation, and living with my parents) when I first started seeing her, and now (these years later) I am remarried to am amazing successful man, we own a gorgeous home together up on the north-side of Chicago, and I’m still in college. I don’t think I could’ve ever done all of this without her sagely advice. She is seriously the best! I’ll never forget my time with her. She gave me back my confidence, taught me that it was okay to let go of toxic people and situations, showed me how to love myself, take things one day at time and of course, reminded me to take my meds. :-) She’s an AMAZING doctor.

Every time my prescription needs her confirmation or whatever, it takes her about two weeks to even call back awhile I’m stuck being off my meds cold turkey, so I constantly feel more depressed and like I have a fever. EVERY single time this happens. I get that she’s busy but this is honestly unacceptable and I would switch asap if there was literally anyone else I could go to easily. I do not recommend af all

Dr Perez never tells me what I want to hear. She tells me I need to hear. Tough on the outside, but still a soft place to fall when I need her to be. Simply the best! Love how she is changing my life one session at a time.

Dr. Perez is a BEYOND exceptional physician... she not only had the knowledge and expertise to work with children and adolescents (which many psychiatrists do not have adequate background in), but adults as well! Beyond this, her true compassion and caring for each and every one of her patients is phenomenal! For anyone who has a complaint... perhaps your expectations are beyond what a human being can accommodate? Should you have to wait a bit for your appointment time, it's possible that the patient being seen before you required a little more attention? Rest assured you will receive the same courtesy for yourself or loved one if & when necessary.

Dr Perez starts out great but only come to find out it is hard to eventually get ahold of her staff for anything afterwards. Dr Perez is not dedicated enough to be bothered other than for scheduled office appts., she is scarce to unavailable.

I have a 12 & 18 yr old that both see Dr. Perez. After spending 2 yrs with a Dr. they didn't care for she was referred to us by a social worker. My children immediately took to her and opened up to her (which is unusual for my 18 yr old son). She has a great bedside manner and spends a good amount of time speaking with me and the kids.
