Dr. Claudia Hilburn Methvin, MD

I like the fact that Dr.Methvin is straight forward with me. She is very down to earth and professional at the same time. I trust that she has my families best interest at heart.

Dr. Methvin is intelligent, inquisitive and dedicated. I am so glad I found her. I've neglected my health for years and present with a multitude of issues. She is thoroughly, methodically working toward diagnoses. She doesn't overwhelm me with medical terminology, she explains things and asks if I have questions or concerns. Her staff is wonderful, always pleasant and kind. Overall, this office is a place where your concerns will be heard and if Dr. Methvin isn't certain what may be causing your symptoms, she will research and work with you to provide the correct diagnosis. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Methvin is by far the best doctor I have seen in a long time. No matter what issue I have, she takes the time to sit and talk with me and makes me feel that I am part of the treatment team and process. She ensures that I feel comfortable with the treatment plan and answers all questions I have. I'm so glad I started seeing her!

Dr. Methvin (or Dr. Muffin as my 2 yr. old says) is a wonderful family Dr. By FAR the best I've had in my 30+ years. She tries her best and it shows. If you have any questions or concerns she is more than willing to listen and give her best advice. If she doesn't know something (or is even a little unsure) she has no hesitation in referring you to a specialist and still keeps up with and answers any subsequent matters/ questions. In all earnestness she is the FIRST Dr. I've ever had who was more concerned about me than anything else. I hope she stays in practice for a very long time as I would be hard pressed to find another Dr. of such quality.

I did a ct, went back, got results. Then,.I had been in the hosp w High Bp and chest discomfort and the Er Dr scheduled me a stress test. I asked Dr Methvin on my next visit if I could have another BP pill to try and help keep bottom BP number down. "Im not concerned about that" Then Dr Methvin had me do a 24 urine collection test and while waiting for urine test result I was called regarding my stress test by the heart Dr that they wanted to do a heart cather on the same day that I was supposed to see Dr Methvin. I called DR Methvins secretary and told her and she said Do you just want to wait till all of that is done to reschedule?... and then said Oh I see your results are here now on the desk (urine collection). I asked that Dr Methvin call me w those results that day. That was on a Fri. On Tues I called back and told the secretary to just mail the results to me( hopefully with a note written by Dr like "All is well w the test" or ( there is a problem with the test it… shows..... and we need to see you).......another thing that threw me Besides that was being chastised for receiving prescription faxes from the hospital by one of her staff members as soon as my name was called back in the back. I had no control of the hospital sending out those requests, and yes I had seen the sign that if you need refills tell the Dr but I didn't need any.

Just got evaluated for a health problem at University of Virginia and came back home not knowing what was going on. Dr. Methvin took the time to make sure I understood everything that happened, in plain English.

Did not consider the patients wellbeing, just blood testing. If there is a problem in the body, she identifies it but does nothing to help. Unbelievable as a doctor. Feel like your being rushed out the door. And she is very rude!
