Dr. Clifford M Houseman, DO

If you need a back surgeon look no further than Dr. Houseman. I cannot give enough compliments to Dr. Houseman and his staff. From the very beginning Dr. Houseman has been nothing short of spectacular. He did everything he could to help me avoid surgery (something you should want in a surgeon). I ended up having to have a fusion and I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon to perform the procedure. Not only is Dr. Houseman a talented surgeon, he is an attentive, knowledgeable, caring and kind person. I would strongly recommend Dr. Houseman to anyone needing spinal care.

Dr. Clifford Houseman literally saved my life! I was in incredible pain in my back and left leg from ruptured disc in lumbar region. The MRI of my problem was tricky to read for inexperienced doctors but Dr. Houseman has so much experience in this area, he knew right away from the MRI what the problem was and how to make me better, normal again. He has a great bedside manner too. He is responsible for me having a normal life again. I am so grateful to him.

Dr. Houseman has been fantastic. During a consultation for neck/spine surgery he provided several different options with pros and cons. He listened to all of my concerns and questions with interest and compassion and provided lots of feedback. Bedside manner during was excellent and follow-up care has been outstanding. I've reached out to his office (contact was Jodi), and they always provided detailed follow-up. If you are in need of a Neuro-Surgeon I would definitely recommend seeing Dr. Houseman.

I can not say enough good things about Dr. Clifford Houseman. He is what I call a "dream" surgeon/doctor. He will never make you feel as if you are below him or not worthy of his time. He will answer any and every question that you have for him, thoroughly and in ways you understand, he will never rush you or make you feel like you are wasting his time. He will be honest as to whether or not surgery is necessary or if there are other alternatives. He will give you all the options with the pros and cons of each and allow you to make the decision. He completed a arthoplasty/cervical disc replacement (c5c6 herniated into spine) on me and I am so glad that he was my surgeon. I am almost 4 weeks post op and I am doing better but even more importantly he still cares and answers all the questions I have. His bed side manner and knowledge suppresses any other doctor/surgeon I have seen. Thank you Dr. Houseman for going above and beyond you should be recognized for the excellent… surgeon you are! The staff is great as well.

Dr. Houseman preformed 2 back surgeries on me. I had a SI joint fusion & an upper neck fusion. I was able to walk immediately after surgery with little or no pain. He also was my husband’s surgeon after a fall that caused bleeding of the brain. He also had head surgery to install a shunt. Prior to the shunt he could hardly walk. He now walks without a walker & drives a car. We love Dr Houseman & highly recommend him if you ever needed a very knowledgeable & caring brain or spine surgery

I feel very blessed to have found Dr. Houseman! He takes his time to answer all my questions when I am in the office and if I need to get in touch with him later, his assistant (Jeff) has gotten back to me impressively fast. Dr. Houseman thoroughly explains the procedure and my options and in a way that I easily understand. He fixed my low back and I am about get my neck fixed after waiting 6 years. I trust him, literally with my life!

Had an MRI and wasn't given a chance to view it. I want to see it myself because the last surgeon I went to diagnosed me at a different office without even viewing my xrays and MRI. The surgeon didn't even order them it was his assistant so he didn't even know when I asked him. The office workers were perplexed also. Now I am finding out this Doctor is also Beaumont and probably consulted with this other surgeon who lied and said he saw nothing on my xrays. Because he never saw them. Why did two other Dr's see tumors in my spine and discharge me from their service saying because of the tumors I needed a neuro surgeon. So I go and now I feel like everyone is lying to me and my health is being sabotoge.

I cannot say enough about this caring man and Doctor...First went to another "Best Surgeon " around, what a joke, he was horrible, rude and many other things...Told my PC and Arthritis Dr, I would not EVER go back to that man and they both told me to go to Dr. Houseman..After almost a year of pain management Dr, PT epidural injects, facet nerve blocks. I finally met the Doctor who I trusted from day one !! He listened, looked at all the MRI's I had already had, he ordered another so he could compare them. He told us, he never rushes in to do surgery and wanted to see all reports and come back in a week. I loved him from the start (not in that way !!!) Went back, he came in and said you are having surgery next Thursday...Normally, I would say, I need a zanax but I was SO calm and could not wait..Surgery went great, He also came and saw me EVERY day in the Hospital which to me is a very big deal...His PA's were great...when I came in for first P.O visit I just wanted to hug him and say… thank you....Yes he told some days I might not like him and he was right !! but 98% of the time I was so thankful for him and all his staff....I was on pain pills for a very short time ...was walking the day of surgery and left rehab after 4 days as I was doing more than the staff was !!!! Yes I have had days that a have a mini breakdown and cry because of things I cannot do yet, people think just because it has been 3 months I should be great...Ah no, it takes time and he told us that from day one..I could not be any happier than what we are having Dr. Houseman as my Doctor...I have worked at two different hospitals, worked in ER and then became a Manager of two offices ...I have seen plenty, Thank you Dr. Houseman for giving me life again...and no, I had never met him before in my life,,,,it was my lucky day to meet this wonderful Doctor and man....

I absolutely recommend Dr. Houseman! I wasn't his patient but my dad was. My dad's illness required treatment from many types of doctors. Dr. Houseman was the only one I trusted. He's very honest and when you are dealing with life and death decisions there is nothing you appreciate more than honesty. He was right on with my dad diagnosis and outcome. He smart and knows what he's doing. He treats you and your family like human beings and not just another patient. When I look back at the journey my dad had to take one thing I know for sure is how grateful I was Dr. Houseman was the doctor on duty the night my dad went in the hospital.
