Dr. Colin Neil Mackenzie, MD

Very receptive and professional. Dr. M is the first doctor that really believed that I have bipolar without treating me like I was a liar. I started the proper medications for my diagnosis after my first appointment with him, and it improved my quality of life drastically. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Mackenzie for over 7 years. After being unhappy with so many other doctors, Dr. Mackenzie was finally able to explain things in a way that made sense and provided us with an effective treatment plan. We have the highest regard for him professionally and as a person.

Ducks in a row guy. Goes over how meds are working for you and how you feel. He listens and hears you out. He switched me over to meds that will have less of a side effect on my body. You can trust this guy, he knows what he’s doing. 100% looking out for you.

It can be a pain to find a good psychiatrist and it can be frustrating. Dr. MacKenzie is not only nice but listens to you and you feel heard. He doesn't dismiss anything you say and the way he speaks to you feels less formulaic than most other doctors I have been to in the past.

Unlike most psychiatrists I have worked with in the past, Dr. MacKenzie actually listens to his patients. Rather than following a formula from med school, he meticulously gathers and synthesizes the data his patients present him into a meaningful treatment plan that gets results. His treatment protocols reflect a doctor who is not afraid to take calculated risks, but is also not cavalierly dismissive of his patients' quality of life. I feel very fortunate to be under his care.

I am a fairly simple case and had just moved to the area when I first was able to get in to see Dr. Mackenzie. As I already see my own "talk" therapist, I just needed to keep on my current medications and preferred a quick and painless appointment. He was very easy to talk to and understanding of my current mental health challenges and trusted I knew my own history and what does and does not work med-wise. I was very appreciative that he was both thorough and trusted that I knew what I needed and was helping me to maintain my mental stability. I continued seeing him while I lived in Kansas City and always had very easy appointments! He also does telepsych appointments if your insurance allows, which is what I will be trying since I moved. I continued seeing him while I lived in Kansas City and I highly recommend him as an excellent Psychiatrist!

Dr. Mackenzie is one of the best doctor's I have ever been to for being treated for addiction. Always wants to know how I'm doing and makes sure that I'm in sort of treatment program. Caring and very knowledgeable about what people go thru when they are trying to get drugs and alcohol out of their lives.
