Thank god I changed doctors!!!, I honestly believe she would have sent me home to die if I had not left when I did . I thought she was extremely grouchy because maybe she was retiring ( or being asked to) unfortunately for anyone else in her care , that was not the case. I’m on board with others who wrote “poor bedside manner” , “ rude” , etc. shame on her for treating people like that , dr. Austin doesn’t belong in a people profession, AT ALL ! I was referred by my breast cancer surgeon to Dr. Austin. I immediately did not feel comfortable with her. Dr. Austin see her patients just as a number walking through the door. Poor bedside manners, wait time is over 45 minutes to an hour, and just overall terrible medical care. And she does not hesitate either to say " You are not the only patient". Overall, just rude and the fake laughter is just awful. She does not go over any results with you, pretty much just tell you anything! As a cancer patient you have already going through the traumatic stress of being diagnosed and having cancer; then to have an oncologist doctor who is so uncaring, see you as a number and not give you the proper care is very scary! I recommend anyone going through treatment after surgery or even before surgery look into getting a second opinion. This is your life. Please don't leave it to just one person, no matter how many years of experience they have or how many patients they have treated, do… not let this individual to make the final decisions on your health and well being. I know without a doubt now, if I would have left my life in the hands of Dr. Austin, I don't think I would be here today. I am thankful to God that He guided me to make a decision to get another opinion. I am doing very well, and on the road to be cancer free. I would not recommend Dr. Austin under any circumstances to care for me or anyone in my family to be treated under her care. This is my personal opinion and my opinion alone.

I’m still mad at myself for letting my mother continue to be a patient of Dr. Austin. It’s been almost 12 years of her passing. Dr. Austin was cold, cruel, non-caring and non communicative. My mother was diagnosed as stage 4 lung cancer and we needed an appointment ASAP. Dr. Austin had an immediate opening which should have been a red flag. She never returned calls. Never called us with results of tests. And her famous comment saying “your mom isn’t my only patient.” I couldn’t get a follow up appointment and when I finally did, I went to pick up my mother and I found her dead, laying on her bed, trying to get dressed. My mother had requested Valium because she was so nervous and Austin refused to give it to her, saying it wouldn’t help. As far as I’m concerned, Dr. Austin is a heartless animal and should have her medical license revoked.

Extremely knowledgeable, dedicated, caring and concerned. Very well-informed on research. Great bedside manner and nice sense of humor. I owe her my life.

Dr. Austin is one of the most exceptional and caring doctors I have ever had. She and her entire team. including Jessica N., her P.A. are the very best in the country. She is very well-known nationally has been my oncologist for years and I have never found her to be cold or uncaring. Not sure why the poster below wants to disparage her but it is telling there are no factual details -- just a hateful personal attack that lacks credibilityr. Dr.Austin is a gentle genius. She is familiar with the latest research on cancer treatment, nutritious, mefication, etc. She is lovely and soft-spoken but warm and genuinely concerned about her patients. She can be serious at times but cancer is a serious illness!! She always asks how her patients are doing and takes time to answer all my questions. She is warm and very sweet and listens to and respond to my concerns as much as possible, but she's not a puppet and has to follow her medical judgment AS ALL DOCTORS MUST. So she may not always… what you want to hear bc SHE IS THE HIGHLY TRAINED DOCTOR. Some patients ask doctors to do things that the doctor in good conscience cannot recommend. That does not make the doctor horrible!! If a cabcer patient thinks he or knows everything and insists on his own way, he hould cure himself of cancer -- no need to see an oncologist or any other doctor. I LOVE Dr. Austin!! She is outstanding!!

I had my first visit with Dr. Austin in Canton and she kindly answered all my questions and offered a lot of good advice. Her personality is professional with a comforting touch. The wait was longer than we expected, but everything else went well.

Dr. Austin and her staff are rude, heartless, cold, spiteful, non-caring medical practice I have ever been to. Never followed up with my mom, who had stage 4 lung cancer with the last scan. She told us she would have the results in a few days. Nobody called. So after a week I called them. The staff was screening her calls and telling me she was out of town. But I heard Dr. Austin in the background telling them what to say. I told them I just wanted the results. She finally came to the phone and said your mom isn’t my only patient. Don’t go there. My mom passed away a week later when I was finally able to get an appointment. I found her dead. ?? Dr. Austin said her and the radiologist disagreed in the results. One thought it was scar tissue from radiation and one thought the cancer had grown. That’s why she never called me back. She wouldn’t give my mom Valium to calm her nerves. She was dying so why not prescribe them ???!!! I hate her. I hate her staff. I wish she would lose her… license.

I was so blessed to have found her 26 years ago. We interview 3 doctors, 2 believed in the standard treatment. We had completed a lot of research, and the new treatment preferred by the scientists. Was much stronger, and longer (5years & 9 months). Dr. Austin was the only one to understand that we were ready to fight breast cancer, not afraid and determined to win no matter what was needed!
