Dr. Corey William Gilliland, DO

I had my intake appointment with AAPC today. I see a couple of bad reviews up here, but I honestly have to say that my first impression of Dr. Gilliland was very positive. I led a very active life, had a full time job and was a mother to two small children, one of them special needs, before my DNA punched it's card. Add to that a few injuries sustained while I was enjoying my life and a handful of major surgeries. I enjoyed many hobbies, especially anything outdoors like camping and visiting historic battlefields. My body (specifically my spine, but the shin bone is connected to the knee bone, right?) started to deteriorate in my 30's but I remained active. Gradually I wasn't able to do the things I once did anymore without being very uncomfortable for longer periods of time. By the time I was in my mid 40's, I lived and still do live daily in pain. no longer able to work or enjoy any physical activities at all, even bird watching. Saying all of that, I have decades of experience in… dealing with trying to control my pain. I am a human being that once enjoyed their life and didn't take it for granted. Something is wrong with my spine. It's not my fault. I'd rather be out gardening than laying on a heating pad. Obviously, when having to control my pain, I've had to work with many treatment professionals over the years. I say "working with" treatment professionals, but I felt some of them didn't want to work with me and that my input didn't matter. Others that have had to endure years of dealing with pain, (in turn pain management doctors) can attest to these facts. I'm sure being a pain management doctor isn't a walk in the park. But being a pain management patient is something you would actually have to be one to understand the nightmares you will eventually encounter on that road through life with your condition just getting worse and worse the older you get. With that being said, I truly believe Dr. Gilliland will actually work WITH me in this battle instead of talking to and looking at me with contempt and disdain. He spoke to me with respect and compassion. I asked my previous pain management doctor and his nurse practitioner what to do if I had a complication that rendered me in screaming pain and I never got a straight answer over a few appointments that didn't consist of me just sucking it up. Dr. Gilliland stopped what he was doing, turned his chair towards me and answered my question clearly and directly. I appreciated that so very much. It's a matter that I'm truly concerned about. That was an answer from someone who is trustworthy and deserves respect. He heard me. He won't be a liar and he won't blow smoke. I believe I can be straightforward with him and be heard. Today I felt like my input mattered. I'm confident that he will do this without just handing me a prescription or stabbing me with needles. Those of you giving bad reviews must have clicked on the wrong name in the comments box. Haha! His support staff are a really polite and professional group of young folks too. At my age, that's nice to see!

He didn't introduce himself to me when he entered the exam room. When I asked him who he was he went ballistic and verbally assaulted me. I hope he gets the help he needs.

If there were an option to give Dr Gilliland 5 stars, I would have. He is the best doctor I have had, and I have tried many. Dr Gilliland takes time to listen- this is the main reason I rate him so highly. If your doctor isn't listening to you, how can he accurately diagnose you? He doesn't rush you or interrupt you- he listens. I recommend him without hesitation.

I have been going to Dr. Gilliland for years. I have had my fair share of doctors; none of them even come compare. I trust Dr. Gilliland with my life. Let me tell you why. My very first appointment with him could not have gone better. I was already frustrated because I went to 4 different doctors trying to find the right medication for me. All 4 got it wrong several times. I sat down with Dr. Gilliland and we started talking. Not once did he rush me. Not once did I feel like I was wasting his time. He listened to me. He did not interrupt, he just listened to every little detail of my symptoms and complaints. I was absolutely astonished by how comfortable I felt with him. He answered every question I had with detailed responses. What I am getting at here is he took time with me. Unlike every doctor I have ever been to, I actually felt important. I felt like it wasn't just his job to help me, but that he really wanted to. How many of you can say that about your prior or… current doctor? He put me on a medication I had never tried before. After 2 weeks of trying it, I concluded that it was the right medication for me. Spend 10 minutes with him and you will see for yourself how unbelievably passionate he about his job. I have had countless doctors listen to me for a second, then push me out the door as soon as possible. I can't say this enough; Dr. Gilliland is a gem. HE CARES ABOUT PEOPLE. I have no doubt that if you go to him one time, you will keep him as your lifetime doctor. He is unbelievably educated, I'm talking on a genius level. He has a gift. Some people were born to be doctors and Dr. Gilliland was one of them. I am telling my story because I wish I did not have to go through as many doctors as I did before finding Dr. Gilliland. He's amazing!!!

My husband and I are snow birds and after several appts. with Dr. Gilliland we were so impressed with his care he is now are primary Dr. I highly recommend him. He is the best. I have never felt rushed in his office. His staff is friendly and caring.

Dr. Gilliland is a fantastic doctor. What I love about his practice is the wait times are not long at all AND he spends time with each patient. He doesn't rush in and rush out- each time I have been to his clinic he spends at least 20 minutes with me. His staff is always friendly- always. He also offers steeply discounted prices for uninsured patients who are paying cash- I recommend his office to everyone.
