Dr. Cory M Edgar, MD

Dr. Edgar makes up in hubris what he lacks in bedside manners. After performing surgery on our child, he had the audacity to say that, months after surgery, the continued shoulder pain ”is all in her head.” Months of PT later, Dr. Edgar referred us out of the UConn Medical Center, Storrs office to an off-site location on the UConn campus with a sports trainer to try out a newly developed medical device for the shoulder. This device, which was developed in Italy, was not FDA approved. Dr. Edgar explained that he had recently been to Italy to see the prototype in use. Dr. Edgar referred to this electrical device as a “pace-maker.” We later learned from a sports trainer, who agreed that the device was causing more harm than good, that apparently Dr. Edgar had a financial interest in this new device. Dr. Edgar never disclosed his financial interests to us or that the device was not FDA approved for use. Without any improvement, Dr. Edgar stated that a surgeon we saw for a second… opinion could open up the surgical site again, but all they would find is how well [Edgar’s] original surgery went. Several years later, without any decrease in pain or improvement in the shoulder’s range of motion, I write this review as a warning about how condescending and disingenuous Dr. Edgar can be to his [female] patients. “It’s all in your head,” is not treatment, it is misogynistic and disrespectful and speaks volumes as to who you are as a man and a physician. Also, FYI, Google search his full name and “coughed” for a police arrest article for further insight into Dr. Edgar. Enough said?

We were relieved and humbled after meeting Dr. Edgar, a true professional in every sense of the word.

Dr. E has been my ortho since 2019 when I suffered a 3 part closed humoral fracture in my arm/shoulder. The first ortho told me I needed PT to fix the issue. Dr. E took one look at the X-Rays, explained my injury, eased my mind about the extent of my injury and the surgery I needed. He explained honestly what I was facing, and the recovery I would have. Within 6 months, I had 75% range of motion...something neither of us expected...and within the year, close to 95%, again something neither of us expected due to the severity of injury or my age. I go yearly for a check in and am so glad I went to him for a 2nd opinion!

After over 2 years of treating me for shoulder pain that has been progressing to the point where I cannot bathe or dress myself, Dr Edgar literally said to me, and I quote, "I don't know what you want me to do for you, kiddo." and walked out of the exam room. A second opinion at another doctor and fresh MRIs show that I have torn tendons that need repairing as well as compressed disks in my cervical spine. We're moving forward with more diagnostic tests (an EMG and a nerve block) before discussing what's the best surgical plan. No thanks to a doctor who completely dismissed me. Kiddo. He called me kiddo after I expressed my concern and problems, and walked out of the room.

Dr. Edgar has performed knee surgery on 2 of my daughters. Surgery was successful and he was available to answer any questions. Was compassionate and caring!

I've had my fair share of sports injuries and subsequent repair surgeries. Dr. Edgar is BY FAR the most professional, kind, and expertly skilled surgeon I've ever encountered. I'd recommend him to anyone who is experiencing pain!

I love Dr. E. He did 4 of my husbands surgeries (not on him my husband is an very accident prone...). My sister had pain in her shoulder. Her PCP sent her to a neurologist she was also on a 5 month wait list. The pain was limiting her to every day things she could not even hold her newborn niece. When she described her complaints I recommended Dr. E. He diagnosed her in 5 minutes after being tossed around from a orthopedist in vernon and then sent to neurology. He is my go to orthopedist...He is amazing...he knows what hes talking about.
