I had right hip replacement surgery for osteoarthritis. Had the surgery on Friday and was walking with aids or pain in the following Monday. I can’t imagine how anyone could have a more perfect experience. I also really liked having a woman surgeon.

I must say I am so glad Dr Sherman did my femur resection with knee replacement for the soft tissue cancer found in my knee that also in my lower femur. She and her team at Mayo were most outstanding and considering how fast I healed and was back up and around truly amazed me. She is so patient and always took time with me before the procedure to keep me fully informed and answered all my questions. It has been 3 months since my surgery (which was much more extreme than a simple knee replacement). I am back to mowing the lawn, driving and walking with my wife and dogs comfortably. My cancer was removed with clean margins and is showing no signs of return. If I ever need my other knee replaced I am going to find her and would trust her 110% to do any bone replacement. Her surgeon skills must be great too - I had no infections and my 26 inch incision is healing very nicely with no roping etc. I did follow her advise and use scar creams and am massaging it as part of physical therapy as… well. I don't believe you could find a better Orthopedic Oncology Surgeon today.

Was late for surgery (over slept). Would not answer my calls for months after complications. Never met a more uncaring physician.

I had the experience of meeting Courtney Sherman at Mayo, Rochester seven and half years ago for a hip replacement. I had severe damage from an accident as a teenager that deteriorated over the years. I had the misfortune of having her and an older surgeon not use to working with women doing my surgery. I received the most inhumane treatment for someone going through surgery and having a history of trauma. My hip was not done correctly and I have been suffering with it. After I left Mayo due to lack of care, I had to report to the Medical Licensing Board and the Human Rights Department in Minnesota what had occurred with the older doctor that does not have the right disposition to be around people. When another woman comes forward in the future for unethical treatment at Mayo, I am documented in these agencies for my experience. After asking for a new doctor and being put with a woman who worked on knees and then demanding to see a surgeon that worked on hips, it was clear that… Mayo was not going to help with my surgical issues. The chair of the department was not going to help me. I went to the Hospital for Special Surgeries and it took them five minutes to see that my left leg was almost 2 inches longer than my right leg and there are other issues. It is good to see women entering this field, but patients would be better served with an honest, ethical and dedicated doctor who cares about patients and not trying to be a good old boy at the expense of patients. I live everyday with what Sherman and the old boy did in surgery. Sherman said nothing happened out of the ordinary, but how does she explain my poor surgery outcome and the fact that I went to governmental agencies? Maybe she was able to handle the misogynist behavior, because she had a goal and ultimate outcome and all I wanted was to walk properly and to have ethical doctors around me and not cause psychological and physical pain.

One of the greatest doctors I have ever been to. She knows her stuff and performs some of the latest techniques. I went to her for AVN and she has been great with treatment and surgeries.

I really liked Dr. Sherman at first. She did my knee surgery but I continued to have problems. She eventually became very rude to me and let me know I was irritating her. I am looking for a new surgeon now. My leg was better BEFORE Dr. Sherman operated. I finally just gave up. I hope I can find someone who can get me up, on my feet and out of this wheel chair which I did not have to use before her surgery. I will never go back to the Mayo.

Dr. Sherman performed surgery on my knee, after two previous failed knee replacements. Not only is she a top-rate surgeon, her compassion and caring shows through each time I see her. She is so easy to converse with, answers all questions and never makes me feel rushed! I respect and admire Dr. Sherman immensely! She gave me hope when I felt that I was in a hopeless situation.

Dr. Sherman is the best doctor you will ever have.

She's the best, most compassionate dr. I have ever been to. I will be forever grateful to her for finding out my problem (severe hip osteoarthritis) and helping me in more ways then one. She has a wonderful bedside manner and I felt completely at ease with her. She will be doing my knee replacement in the future. I wouldn't want anyone else doing it.
