Awesome physician - we were referred to him by another dermatologist for treatment of CTCL for my father-in-law. He was very thorough in explaining every aspect of our treatment to us, and his staff followed up to ensure all was taken care of. I would recommend him to anyone without question or reservation

As a pt of his for about 4 yrs, I am totally shocked to read some of these reviews! While he is a little eccentric, he is extremely thorough and did not give up on me. It took over a 150 allergy tests but he finally got it figured out. I went to him after over a year of seeing my local dermatologist and two local allergists (with basic testing). He was very determined to get to the bottom of it, did not rush to conclusions or assumptions. I admit the first time I met him, his way of asking questions and sitting there with no quick response was a little strange. But I soon realized that he was carefully considering all the possibilities and that his questions had a purpose. Would HIGHLY recommend!

To start with he misdiagnose me. i thought he was a top doctor, I am a complex case. i have researched for 3 years and have several issues going on. I know now i will have to go to the east coast, where doctors have more knowledge and better education. I just wanted a correct diagnosis.I should have known, by the other reviews. I have many allergies to dyes and ingredients in medicine. I am in desperate shape, my skin is hypersensitive and reacting to everything. He treated me dismissive and looks at me with disdain, because I am unable to take care, and use hygiene products. I have been fighting this for 4 years. Where are all the compassion doctors. He treated me with indifference because of physical appearance. He would be surprise that we own a very profitable business and make at least three times what he does annually. I tried to tell him I was allergic to the medicine he was prescribing. What a strange little man. He is legend in his own mind, and needs to do the… medical community a favor and retire. I am beginning to loose faith in doctors.

I have been a patient of Dr. Elmets for over 10 years. I have a rare skin disease that he has kept in check. He has exceptional knowledge in his field.

He is a very experienced and knowledgeable physician. He may seem aloof but he just has a slightly awkward bedside manner. A very caring physician.

I have had a frustrating skin allergy that has manifested itself in my lips. Been tested for viral problems and been confirmed by several docs it is allergies. Finally ended up at UAB because I was recommended there because they are a research hospital and see more than your typical reactions. Well, I am very disappointed. Not only was my allergy testing billed wrong (say I owe $450) but feel as if I was brushed off as he said it was a allergy to lipstick. I wear nothing but vaseline and have not for over 5 years since this began. I feel like he did not listen and gave the easy excuse out. Not only that but I still have marks where my allergy tests were done...he did not even call an allergy. I am having a hard time finding out what I was tested for and am not completely sure THEY even know. Stay away.
