Dr. Craig Stephen Holzem, MD

I recommend Dr. Holzem and his staff members. He takes the time to give you good care. His staff is excellent! This group as a whole provides great health care!

I used to see Dr Holzem occasionally at Mercy, where they push doctors to rush through patients quickly. He was always helpful. At his new practice I’m finding a whole new doctor that was there all along, just pressed for time. I’ve chosen him as my primary care dr now because he is so knowledgeable and helps me really understand what is going on with my body, & why. He takes his time with patients & truly listens & actively educates. I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s very good & his office staff are very kind and helpful. I can always get an appointment easily, with little to no wait time. He’s very good at addressing total body & how various body systems interact. He looks at the total picture, is very straightforward & helpful.

Dr. Holzem and his team are excellent! He as the ability to make the complex simple and give you a plan of treatment that makes you feel positive. I specifically like the fact he practices real medicine and not "insurance" by that I mean he is concerned with your health not what the insurance company dictates. . He is independent of corporate medicine and for me that makes a lot of difference. He spends the time with you and it NEVER feels rushed. His office team is excellent as well. I highly recommend him and his entire office team.

I'm picky! I know that when I talk to Dr. Holzem he is listening and giving me his attention. He doesn't rush into medications and he tries to explain to me how I can improve my health with better choices. I've sent friends and family to him, and followed him when his office moved. Why? I trust him. I don't trust easily. I've found doctors over the years who give me pat answers and walk away. Dr. Holzem has gone the extra mile for me and my family. I've argued with him, but I do that. I'm stubborn. I know he is doing his best to care for me. I highly recommend him as a family doctor and for geriatrics.

He was not a good doctor for me. He kept adding me to a group of people, as opposed to being an individual. If you were on a medication for over 20 years, and it was working for you, and NOT having any side effects, ... why change? I waited a long time and when he finally saw me, he rushed through my appointment. He made no eye contact with me and seemed disinterested in what I was saying. He came off as extremely arrogant (which judging by his medical care, he shouldn't have been). He did not explain anything to me, but just told me what he assumed I had. He prescribed me antibiotics without first taking a swab or even looking at the affected area. I refused to take the antibiotics until the results came back. By the time the lab results came back, my infection had gone away. He never followed up with me and when I asked to speak with him, I was told that I would have to talk to the nurse practioner instead. He had complete disregard of responsible prescription of medication. It's doctors like these who are causing the majority of antibiotic resistance. I would not recommend him to anyone and I will not be seeing him again.
