Dr. Craig Stephen Johnson, MD

Saved my life after surgery with another Dr. I trust him and will never go to another Dr. He communicates well and has an incredible skill. He’s a renowned surgeon.

This doctor seems "put-on and fake". Poor follow up. Also, watch his hands closely.

I couldn't thank Dr. Johnson enough for what he has done for me. I had endometriosis that made its way into my rectum, and he literally saved my life! While in the hospital, he checked on me a couple of times a day; all while being very attentive, didn't seem rushed, and would even pull up a chair and sit by my bed. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his patients. Surgeons that are skilled, compassionate, and able to explain things clearly, are rare. Johnson is one of those rare finds!

My experience has been top notch with this Doctor. His compassion, HONESTY, concern, kindness and professionalism makes him a 10 Star Doctor in my book. Went through surgery several years ago With him. I highly recommend him!

Don’t bother with this doctor. Smooth words before surgery. Acts like he cares. Ignores you if you have any problems. Only good I can say, he passed me off to a great colon doctor.

Amazing and encouraging

Every experience I have had with Dr. Johnson has been positive. After 11 bumpy years of ulcerative colitis flare-up and remission cycles, I found myself in a severe flare at age 24. My GI finally recommended j pouch surgery. He referred me to Dr. Johnson, and for that I could not be more grateful. Dr. Johnson spent an hour with my husband and I at the consultation appointment, answering every question and explaining surgical procedures in detail. He is an intelligent, compassionate, articulate, and relatable doctor, and we left feeling confident that I would be in good hands. Over the next seven months, I underwent three surgeries (removal of colon, construction of j pouch, and ileostomy reversal). I also experienced one intestinal blockage that required overnight hospitalization. Each time, Dr. Johnson delivered exceptional and immediate care. Every complication or issue that I had was immediately addressed. In addition, Dr. Johnson's utilization of robotic technology allowed my… surgeries to be as minimally invasive as possible, and my scarring is almost nonexistent. It's been ten months since that first surgery, and I'm thrilled to say that I have my life back. My family and I are beyond grateful for Dr. Johnson. In fact, I'm almost sad that I'll only get to see him once a year now. ;)

Had colon resection surgery on a Monday. Dismissed from hospital on Thursday. Leg pain began almost immediately after going home. Called Dr. Johnson's office several times to report this pain. Was told that it didn't have anything to do with my surgery. My legs were never checked. Ended up being taken to hospital by the life flight with pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and deep vein thrombosis in my legs. It is by the grace of God and lots of prayers that I survived! His parting comment to me at last appointment was, "Thanks for not dying." You be the judge!

No post surgery check done. Sent home from OSH-Tulsa, septic & multiple abscesses after colon surgery. I asked answers as I tried to study online. I was told that the information I'd find online would only scare me and not to research it. He had great bedside manners and seemed very compassionate BUT Post-Op was was horrible. I was sent home with a low grade fever, and a 'poochy" tummy. First night after being home, called and told I'd have antibiotics sent to pharmacy. Next 3 days called as my stomach was swelling, side was bruising, and right labia became the size of a softball within hours on the 4th day. Called and demanded an appointment. Told to go to Imagine Center at Saint Francis @3pm. I was sent straight from imagine center to the hospital for emergency surgury. Dr. John showed up as the hospitals team of dr.'s were taking good me in to operate. LONG HORRIBLE STORY SHORT; ICU, COMA FOR 3 ALMOST 4 MONTHS.and ILLIOSTOMY BAG. MULTIPLE STOMA PROLAPSES. BLOOD WAS LEFT IN ME FROM… A CORRECTIVE SURGERY and then came a 2nd COMA for almost 3 weeks. I HAD A 3% CHANCE TO BEAT THIS and THANKS TO GOD, PRAYER, A VERY SUPPORTIVE HUSBAND and FAMILY, 3 BABIES WAITING AT HOME FOR ME, I DID SURVIVE. TRAUMATISED, MORE ISSUES THAN I HAD WHEN I FIRST SOUGHT TREATMENT. LOST MORE BOWEL THAN EVER THOUGHT I SHOULD HAVE (SMALL INTESTINE INCLUDED) If a simple CT SCAN would have been done, especially since the hospital feed a FULL MEAL, Consisting of Chicken and Broccoli, 2 days after surgery which Dr. Johnson was made aware of, I may not have reached the point of death I did. HIS SMOOTH WORDS LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THIS WAS NORMAL AND BY THE END TOLD ME IT WAS MY BODY FIGHTING HIM!!! NOW, IT'S JUST AS MUCH MENTAL ISSUES AS PHYSICAL! I'VE BEEN BUTCHERED AND MENTALLY BEATEN BY THIS EXPERIENCE. I Feel ALL SHOULD KNOW because, just so have it, (2) TWO OTHER WOMEN I KNOW CLOSELY HAD DR.JOHNSON CALLED IN TO ASSIST WITH THEIR DIFFERENT SURGERIES, NOW, (1) One is still seeking medical help due to 'an accidental puncture to colon that was not seen. (Because no scan was done after procedure and wound was closed up with staples similar to mine experience.) Please research other Dr.'s opinions before you allow Dr. Johnson and his team at Surgical Associates to do surgical procedures on you or a family member!!!!
