Warning to Hypermobile and young chronically ill ppl - this Dr thinks EDS shouldn't be disabling and refused to read the scientific studies I brought her on neuro manifestations. She’ll slap you with a psych DX if you advocate for yourself. After seeing her for years trying to get help for involuntary movements, she took my wheelchair use (which has improved my quality of life immensely) as a sign that I "want to be sick" and DXed me with conversion disorder. This DX meant I was denied by a Dr who specializes in CCI and CSF leaks. I’ve finally seen an EDS specialist who immediately suspected CCI and pressure on my brainstem. I may finally get proper care. I’m also getting treatment for medical PTSD as a result of this abusive care denial. I wish I could’ve warned ppl sooner, but I barely survived this. I know finding a Hyp-friendly neuro is pretty much impossible, but please don't go to her. Search for Hyp-ACCESS if you're really struggling with care in NYC, they may be able to help.

I saw Dr. Drafta twice last year to ask questions regarding tremors, numbness and tingling and some minor pain in my limbs. She was thorough in those visits but wasn’t really able to help me much. That part was fine because I have an Autoimmune disease with lots of annoying symptoms that doctors seem to disregard. Since those appointments, I have sent her a couple of updates and questions via the NYU Langone app. A couple of weeks ago I asked about a couple of symptoms that I had been experiencing to find out if there was a connection. She responded back to me that it wasn’t connected to fibromyalgia and that they could be “symptoms of somatization disorder.” I am not sure if she forgot that I do have an Autoimmune disease, but I don’t really care about fibromyalgia and am certainly not exaggerating any symptoms. I was misdiagnosed for many years with mental illness as a default diagnosis and only a year out of that hole. I found her email concerning as she seemed to disregard my… history and what I had asked her. I am also going to go out on a limb to say it was very inappropriate to try to diagnose me via email, especially a mental health disorder. I hope no one else has this experience. EVER.

I had high hopes when I visited Dr Drafta. Unfortunately these hopes we're almost immediately shattered due to her poor attitude and dismissive tonality. Not only was she dismissive, but she flat-out gave me bad advice about my condition. I would recommend that all patients stay away from this doctor and that she rethink her profession. Someone should tell her that maybe it's time to retire doc, if your heart isn't in it anymore.

I went to Dr. Drafta more than a year ago. Being diagnosed, a very long time ago, with idiopathic epilepsy, I needed a new neurological "check-up." Being used to the somber faced specialists I had gone to before, I was so pleasantly surprised upon meeting Dr. Drafta. She entered the room with a smile and so much energy. She enlightened me to many facts I had never known about my illness. One being how my present medication causes me to sometimes fall or drop things. I had never known that. All in all, Dr. Drafta is a professional with a wonderful bedside manner and I would recommend her to anyone.

Truly Grateful,that I found a neurologist that took my insurance.There seems to be a shortage of neurologist who want to take GHI. The last neurologist took the insurance for the visit but not for the EMG testing. Dr Drafta took insurance for both all of her staff treated me like a person. I really feel she listens. She provided quality time. It was worth the wait time. Truly grateful.

She is very good doctor, but the waiting time is usually more than one hour.

Dr. Drafta has no respect for time. Even after waiting over an hour, she spent less than 10 minutes with me. I do not feel that she listens to you as a patient, and was frustrated by the entire experience.

Drafta incorrectly diagnosed me as having Somataform disorder and gave me Sumatriptan to use. Which is contraindicated to the condition that I really have, Hemiplegic migraines. (A rare migraine form that I was correctly diagnosed with in the ER before I saw her and diagnosed by other doctors with after I left her care). I took the Sumatriptan one day and almost winded up in the hospital because I became temporarily paralyzed, unable to speak and lost consciousness. I could have had a stroke because of her. Drafta claimed all the symptoms I was experiencing with my illness, she experienced them too because we were both healthcare workers and tend to overthink things, and if I just took Klonopin it would go away. It was my misfortune that I trusted her. SMH

I went to see Dr. Drafta regarding a foot injury that resulted in nerve damage. She was extremely nice and attentive, and took her time to explain my situation and answer all my questions. She made me feel comfortable and positive about my issue. I would totally recommend her to anyone. I had to wait over an hour to see her, but she was well worth it. I have seen three other doctors before I ended up wtih her, and all of them were either rude, uncaring and just didin't give a hoot. She definitely eased my mind after seeing her.
