Dr. Cullen John Archer, MD

I saw Dr. Archer in Logan UT last year. I'm getting older and was having some pretty severe heavy bleeding during my periods. So much so that I couldn't leave the house for 3 days of my cycle. He did an endometrial biopsy, and told me that there was no reason I was bleeding as much as I said I was. I tried taking ibuprofen to see if that would help. It did some, but I still bled about 3 times as much as a heavy period. He thought that that helped pretty well. His solution was to place a Mirena IUD, which I agreed with. On the day of placement, he forgot half of his tools in another room. So I got to sit, but hanging off the edge of the table, door open, for 15 minutes while his nurse went across the hall to find his tools. Alli the while he was telling me about how he had to leave the door open so he didn't get accused of anything inappropriate. And I was the one in a vulnerable position! After the placement of the IUD was finished, he sent me on my way. There was no follow up, just… "come back in 5 years for removal and don't expect any results from this for about 8 months". I ended up with an allergic reaction to the IUD and had to have it removed after 7 months. The heavy bleeding had gotten slightly better, but not much and it returned as bad as before after removal. I went to another doctor about 3 months later, Dr Archer had since moved on. This doctor told me an ablation or hysterectomy were viable options for treatment, and wanted to do an ultrasound to see if there was any reason for my bleeding. She said it's not normal, and shouldn't effect your quality of life. My ferretin level was 8.5, which Dr Archer told me was "close to 10, and 10 is normal." Apparently, 10-200 is the normal ferretin range. Ultrasound shows I have fibroids, lots of large fibroids. Which doctor Archer would've found if he'd tried more than a biopsy. There's a reason for my bleeding, he just didn't care to listen to or believe anything I said.
