Dr. Cyril Njaravelil Philip, MD

I have L4 L5 disc herniation. I have severe pain in my low back radiating down both sides into my legs. I went to Dr. Phillips for the first time. He seemed like a good doctor my first visit. He was pretty thorough. He first wanted to put me through physical therapy. I went and things became worse actually ?? So my next appointment they decided I should try an injection. I saw his np that visit. So I go for my first injection with Dr. Phillips my following visit. He never went over were the exact pain was coming from until was lying on the table and he was about to give me the injection. There wasn't much going over it either. So he gives the numbing agent and goes straight to work. Never gave the antistatic time to work. He went straight in with the needle. It was the MOST painful thing I've EVER experienced. He hit the nerve and my body shook. I got off the table could barely walk. On the way home i cried i was in so much pain. I spent the next several mths so pain and i could barely… walk.(never ask me if wanted to be put out for this either) They never call and do a check up on how your doing after either. This doctor DOES not have a good bedside manner either. Very cold. Almost like he doesn't care.

And to add to my review he also gave me a MRI before he placed the spinal cord stimulator trial in me , when I had leads in my back from a bone stimulator that is not compatible with a MRI. Which I didn’t know until after my MRI but I don’t understand , if I just came from having back surgery and was recommended to him by another doctor maybe hevshould compare notes before? So now I don’t know if it causes damage but I’m kind of freaked out

Dr. Philip himself is a very great guy.. he said I was candidate for a spinal cord stimulator... so I decided to try the trial. On about day 2 I kept electric shocks down my left leg , which was so very uncomfortable to deal with for 7 days. me it would send vibrations through my legs constantly at a pretty high numbers. The one guy who is in charge of helping me kept calling me three times a day to try to fix the remote control that came with the spinal cord stimulator .. which made it so worse and he was telling me it shouldn’t be like that. So how would I know?? I’ve never had that thing in my body before. so when I went to get the spinal cord stimulator taken out , they saw that 1 of the wires / leads fell out. Not one person mind you ,not even one ,followed up with me … eight months later., The spinal cord stimulator people called and They wanted to know how I was doing and if I would like to get a permanent one put in. I said SERIOUSLY? You charge my insurance $275,000 for a… trial that didn’t even work because of wire fell out and never even worked for me since day one because the wire fell out and now you want to know if I wanna permanent one put in?? As I already moved out of state also. if you need a decemt doctor who I would think knows what he’s doing but won’t help you if you need pain managed… or the office want to follow up with you .. but Dr. Philip is a great guy in general. I was referred to him by great doctor but for nobody to follow up with me being in all the pain that I’ve been in , was very sad on their part. I am getting great pain care at this moment .. it took to have to move 2000 miles for somebody to help me. But I am being helped now.

he is great and the staff are very friendly. He put in my spinal cord stimulator and he is very knowledgeable and he is great explaining your procedures that your getting done

I feel this Dr. does know what he's doing related to some procedures however, he performed a procedure, removed me from all medications without consulting me and told me to go to the ER even though the significant increase in pain I was experiencing was directly related to the ablation that HE performed. To me, that is a gross misuse of the emergency room, where they would run unnecessary tests only to tell me to follow up with my Dr. I feel that my pain was ignored. I also do not feel that Dr. Philip actually listened to me as I have widespread pain related to several issues, one of which is a cancer diagnosis. He treated ONE area and left me without follow up. He made me feel like a criminal and definitely did not help with the management of pain. I will never go back to him and I completely regret having the procedure that he so strongly suggested that I have. I do have to say that his staff is fantastic and kind. Do your research before deciding on a pain management Dr. I… will stick to my primary, who I know listens and understands where I'm coming from.

Not sure what below comment is about. Dr Philip is great. He talks you through every procedure. Never had any complications. He has had to do a few procedures on me given my condition and I have not had any problems. I have sent him many of my family and friends Thank you Dr Philip, you have changed my life!

This Dr. did a back injection on me and went to far with the needle and punctured an inner membrane causeing massive head pain. When I called about it he and his staff brushed me off and seemed like they tried to cover their mistake. Spent 7 hours in the e.r. after that. Worst most painfull week of my life. Seeking legal action.

I have been having severe back pain for many years at least 3 yrs. He has a very professional manner and is very thorough with all procedures and just checkup visits. I couldn’t go to another doctor for my pain.

Amazing doc. Listens. Remembers small things.

Worst doctor ever! sounded totally dumb!
