I have been a patient of Dr. Wang's for over 6 years and he has been excellent at managing my pain; I would highly recommend Dr. Wang to anyone suffering from pain.. As a patient of chronic and severe pain, I know that it can affect you not only physically, but also emotionally. It is very important to have a doctor that you are comfortable talking to about personal issues that both affect, and are caused by living with pain on a daily basis. Dr. Wang is not only very intelligent, but he is also very easy to talk to and is calm and nonjudgemental. He goes out of his way to come up with a personalized treatment plan for me.

Only Dr. Josef Mengele had more glee in seeing a woman in severe pain -- and MAKING HER SUFFER. HE IS A TORTURER. If you have CHRONIC, life-long pain, I wish you better help than I got. I was abandoned into a SAD LIFE.

While accompanying a patient to an office visit with Dr. Wang, I observed several forms of unprofessional treatment. Dr. Wang and his associate/student neglected the first step in pain management. They both neglected to perform an evaluation of the patient's level of pain. Both, also, failed to ask the patient questions related to the assessment and treatment of all pain. The patient's pain was caused by an accident in which they were slammed wall after being hit with a swinging bag the size of a large motor cycle. After this, the patient experienced extreme pain and poor mobility. It did not progress over a period of time. Prior to the injury, the patient was very active and able to perform routine daily life activities At no time during the visit did Dr. Wang or his assistant ascertain the patient's Level of Pain. At no time did either ask the patient "would you like relief of Pain" However, on more than one occassios, Dr. Wang said to the patient "you don't have… much pain" and "There is no need to re-do the pain treatment" It is no longer the decision of the physician nor any healthcare professional to decide whether or not the patient is in pain. Nor is it appropriate to minimize the patient's pain. Since the new Regulations on pain, the patient's pain is determined by the patient. Further, all healthcare providers are directed to do the evaluation on all patients experiencing pain. After the evaluation, regardless of the level of pain, the question must be asked, "would you like relief of pain?" Instead, on several occasions, Dr. Wang said to the patent, "your pain is not that much and you are O.K." in response to the patient's concern about their pain persisting after the treatment. When informed that there was no significant change in the pain since the needle treatment 3-4 weeks ago, Dr. Wang said that "the treatment could not be repeated this soon." Instead of setting an appointment for a time when the treatment could be repeated, Dr. Wang recommended that the patient see a physical therapist or a psychologist" for further pain management. It is a well-known fact that the benefits of Physical Therapy are likely to fail if the pain has not been treated sufficiently to allow the patient to do the exercises. Most healthcare professionals also know that the side affect of prolonged, poorly treated pain is Depression". Dr. Wang's failure to be able to inject the appropriate dosage and/or failure to place the needle at the site of the nerve root, resulted in little to no pain improvement. The industry protocol is to repeat the treatment with an increase in dosage until the pain is relieved. Dr. Wang failed to acknowledge this option, even though it was suggested by the patient. Instead, his response was to blame the patient's age as the reason for the poor outcome. Dr. Wang needle injection was ineffective. Instead of rescheduling another injection, as he should have, he made excuses to the patient and minimized the patient's level of pain. This is pain management t its worse. By most standards, it is incompetence. The placement of needles is a skill. It is different with each patient's anatomy. So, it does not always take. It should not be taken so personal. When a Dr. is unable to accomplish the task, they should be professional enough to refer another specialist in he field who may be able to do so.
