Dr. Dale Dennis Dalenberg, MD

Dr. Dalenberg gave me my life back! When I walked into his office I was in really poor shape, at just 39 years old. He took one look at me and immediately knew exactly what was wrong, herniation at L5-S1 and it was bad. I had early cauda equina and had not been able to walk for almost 2 months (insurance denied MRI multiple times). He was able to get an emergent MRI within the hour. I underwent laminectomy with discectomy 4 days later. Dr. Dalenberg performed an amazing precise surgery and my recovery has been a lot easier than I thought it would be. He genuinely gave me my life back. He has spent as much time with me as I needed and answered all my questions. I have never felt rushed out of his office. I would trust Dr. D with any member of my family without a second thought.

This man or a better word "Butcher" did a 2nd hip replacement on my father 4 years ago. The 1st replacement was 20 years ago by another surgeon. After a year of pain, I took my father to another surgeon and he did xrays. The screws were loose and the stem was loose. Every follow up appointment with Dalenberg, my father NEVER saw him always a PA. This surgeon said there was major problems but he couldn't do the surgery because he was in a small hospital and didn't have the correct equipment. We went on to Menorah to a highly recommended surgeon. He did another complete replacement. After the surgery the surgeon said that the stem had a 30 degree turn in it and screws were all loose. In his opinion the wrong stem and other replacement parts were used on the 2nd replacement by Dalenberg. After a year of seeing a pain doctor at KU, still nothing works to control the pain for my father. We did the simulator, nerve blocks, burned nerves, etc. He is now 85 years old nothing else wrong with… him except pain in his left hip and now depressed. He can't take pain meds because they make him sick and no one will let him give himself a pain shot. We know the pain shot will work because after the procedures for the last year, he felt good for 2 to 3 days after because of the pain meds he was given before the procedures.

Our son broke both of his bones in his right arm approximately 3 inches below his wrist. This injury required emergency surgery. Unfortunately, we did not have time to research surgeons. Dr. Dalenberg pinned his arm when it should have been plated, he put him in a half arm cast instead of a full arm cast and he set his arm with a 30 degree bend at the breaking point. When we took our son in for his follow up and to switch from the temporary cast to the regular cast, Dr. Dalenberg bragged about his work. However, just by looking at the x-rays, it was obvious that something was very wrong. Within days, we took him into another surgeon for a second opinion. They stated that his arm was not set right and he would have a permanent 30 degree bend in area of the break if he did not have an additional surgery to repair the careless mistake made by Dr. Dalenberg. They also stated that our son spent the last 2 weeks in an unnecessarily high level of pain due to the way Dr. Dalenberg… did not realign his bones, misjudged using pins instead of plates and putting him in the wrong cast. My son has a very high pain tolerance level and he had went through all of his prescription pain pills following Dr. Dalenberg's surgery. This is something a parent never wants to see their child go through. Within two days of receiving the 2nd opinion, our son was back in surgery. This time it was at Children's Mercy Hospital instead of Ransom Memorial Hospital (Ottawa). They realigned his bones, stabilized it with plates and put him in a full arm cast. They also left a slit on the front and back of the cast in order to release the pressure from the typical swelling that occurs a few days following surgery. His pain level was manageable and his was only on prescription pain meds for 2 days following his second surgery. And I am proud to say that his arm is straight once again. I am writing this because it was very difficult to watch our son go through such a high level of discomfort and pain that was caused by Dr. Dalenberg's negligence. We were disgusted after seeing the x-ray from what Dr. Dalenberg put our son through. It was even more disgusting that he bragged about his work. I wish we would have had time to research surgeons. If you do, please save your child or yourself from this same experience and utilize a different surgeon.

Has no idea what he's talking about!

He certainly knows what he's talking about, but he is not very personable and seemed to have a hard time interacting with my middle school daughter when she was his patient.

This Dr is wonderful, his bedside manner is great! He explains everything to you even if he has to do it more than once. I truly feel if it wasnt for him I would not be able to walk today! His secretary is the greatest, compassionate, and very personable! The two of them put together is wonderful. Before and after surgery etting is explained untill you understand. I would absolutley recomend this Great Doctor and his staff!!
