Dr. Dale Howard Rice, MD

If Dr. Rice ever knew why I was in his exam room, he showed no evidence of this. He did not acknowledge very simple questions. He was with me for under ten minutes, and then he vanished. Dr. Rice's primary interest was in whether or not he could create a basis for a surgery. He had no interest in, nor did he check, the swollen lymph node, that was the reason for my visit. This morning I received a bill for endoscopy. At no time did Rice use an endoscope on me. He never had one in his hands in my vicinity. I think that it would have been appropriate if he had, but the fact remains that he did not. I cannot imagine any circumstances why someone would consult Dr. Rice about anything. He is 79 years ago, and seems to have retired without leaving his office. Why his colleagues or his department tolerate this kind of indifference to the simple tasks in front of him I have no idea. Men like this disrupt not only the lives of their patients, but they under mine the reputations of their… departments. The next time I need an ENT I will not go to Keck. His colleagues must know this. My experience is hardly unique. Just take a look at his on line reviews. Keck's internal reviews are not going to be any different. The bill to my insurer for this useless visit was $3,000.

Over twenty years ago Dr. Rice performed five sinus surgeries over ten years but my infection kept coming back. I had a terrible surgery by another doctor and Dr. Rice fixed everything. Since then I’ve been infection free. He’s the best of the best.

This doctor will not even know who you are, and turn you over to residents. He will lie to you and allow you to be butchered. Stay away. Caused serious permanent damage.

I went to a number of doctors and hospitals who all indicated that my facial nerve would probably need to be severed to deal with the tumor that was wrapping itself around it. Dr. Rice took a look at the x rays and indicated that was nonsense and managed to save the nerve and my facial integrity. His great reputation is deserved.

Dr. Rice is an excellent surgeon. He does move fast and no nonsense bedside manner. I have found him to be knowledgeable and excellent surgeon. Dr. Rice has done 4 Thyroidectomies in my family. Myself my mother and my sister. We have all been cancer free for 17-35 years. The diagnosis is hard to make but once Dr. Rice saw a pattern of cancer in our family, he choose to operate on me even though My thyroid was not testing out strongly for cancer and local doctors all told me to wait. when he did my thyroid was 50% with cancer. He is amazing and saved my life.

Dr. Rice removed nasal polyps quickly and painlessly. He is a fantastic surgeon! I recommend him 100%!

Dr Rice is an excellent Surgeon. He has a military man's demeanor less talk and no sugar coating. He can be a little harsh on the typical feminized LA weenie. But he saved my Sinus and brain from certain death and worked with me from beginning to end. Way to go Dr Rice! I know your super busy. Vanessa is the person who always made things good happen. Thanks for making my nose Bionic !! You are da best! PS and it cost less than $6 million.

Dr. Dale Rice and his staff is what I have come to expect from KECK MEDICAL CENTER. Dr. Rice and his staff are truly as courteous and professional as one would expect from a world class facility. My needs were quite urgent, and when I called for the initial appointment I was in his office within a few days. Dr. Rice scheduled me for surgery within a week of my initial consultation. The surgery went smoothly (other than a very poor bedside manner from the anesthesiologist) which Dr. Rice took care of immediately, everything went as planned from that point on. I will admit, when you go in to see Dr. Rice, you should have a note pad with your questions in advance. Dr. Rice is a no nonsense man, who does not have a lot of time or desire for chit chat. He is professional and very thorough, however he is not your warm and fuzzy person. Than again I am in surgery to make friends, I am here for my health care, which in my opinion is the Best of the Best.

Disappointed by him and have stopped seeing him.

we first visited Dr. Rice with early stage jaw cancer, stage one. 2 surgeries and one year later, when we were treated shabbily by him, we sought another opinion and found the cancer had spread to stage 4 and now critical. Stay away from this doctor if you have cancer. He is not thorough and needs to retire.
