To begin with, I'm writing under an 'online' name so the name Allie is not in their records. They could respond to this comment by saying I'm not a patient but that's none of my concern. I just want to relay my experience. I've been going to Dr. Cohen for about 2-3 years. There was a break for almost a year in seeing her because we moved out of the country. I started to see Dr. Cohen because my friend who is dealing with PCOS and Hashimoto's started going to her and she came at her recommendation. I was happy to see Dr.Cohen because I have subclinical hypothyroidism and no regular doctor had deemed it necessary for me to get medication and Dr.Cohen prescribed me Naturethroid after doing a TRH test. The prices were pretty steep as the consultation is 500+ and each time you visit her with bloodwork and supplements and such, it would average to about 500. But I still went to her because I couldn't find a regular endo who knew much about hypothyroidism. The last time I visited her was my… last time going to her. I saw her on a Wednesday and she told me that I should call her on Friday because I needed to get the results of my bloodwork and prescription as my current one was running out. She told me to call early in the morning as she was leaving at 1. I called her shortly after 8 and left a message with the receptionist. I told her it was important that I speak with Dr.Cohen today because I am running out of my medication. She said she will relay the message and I told her I will call back around 11 if I hadn't heard from Dr.Cohen by then. 11 comes around and no call. So I called again and this time I asked for Denise, who is Dr.Cohen's assistant. I told her that I need to speak with Dr.Cohen because if I don't speak with her on Friday, I will run out of meds before Monday. And she isn't even in until Tuesday. Denise said she will tell her. At 12:45 I called again thinking that Dr.Cohen will be leaving at 1. Denise then tells me she won't be leaving at 1 today because she has lots of patients and that she will make sure that Dr.Cohen calls me before she leaves. Guess what? No call. I can't believe that I have to pay on average $500 every time I see her and I still have to chase her down, especially to get a prescription when she knew I would run out of medication if she didn't call me that day. I went there on Monday to their office to demand my results and that she call me. She wasn't there but Denise was and she was so apologetic, saying that she relayed my multiple messages. I asked her if she had told Dr.Cohen that I will run out of my meds if she didn't call me on Friday and she said she did. What kind of doctor doesn't care whether their patient will run out of meds? Only the money hungry ones. Dr.Cohen does not bother to do any work if it's outside of her office hours. I guess running out of meds was no exception. On that Monday, Denise gave me some excuse about how they were waiting on test results, which is why she couldn't call me. Umm...1. I wasn't even made aware you were doing them and 2. you couldn't relay that to me in my multiple phone calls? and finally, so you're waiting on a test result therefore it doesn't matter whether or not a patient takes their pills? It has been a few weeks since I've collected my test results and Dr.Cohen has not even called to go over them. We had discussed possibly switching back to Naturethroid or adding Cytomel to my Synthroid and we were supposed to discuss this after the results and nothing. Dr.Cohen is a prime example of what a doctor shouldn't be like. It's sad that these holistic practitioners take advantage of the fact that regular endos are not very knowledgeable about certain conditions and we are desperate for answers. Shame on you, Dr. Cohen.

Terrible wants everyone to take very expensive tests and if they come back normal she tell you to go see a psychiatrist

Very professional and easy to talk to. I had a problem and she suggested I see another doctor and the Dr.confirmed her concern about my health issue. I have used her services for many years and have recommended her to my friends.

I had been to a cardiologist, an LPR expert, a pulmunologist, my family doctor and an ENT and no one could figure out what to do with me other than mask symptoms. But Dana Cohen is some kind of genius. Warm, matter-of-fact, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable, she found a bacteria that shouldn't be there in my gut, and some thyroid issues and because of her, I'm feeling better. Brilliant doctor.

I have been a patient of hers for three years now, she has totally balanced out my hormones with careful, conservative, attentive detail, helped with my diet, and is just a great, comprehensive, smart alternative doctor... and a really lovely person, to boot! She's my main medical resource and will continue to be, she's worth every penny she charges (not cheap) and more.

First appointment with Dr Cohen today. She was prompt, courteous, listened, asked many questions, was interested in me as a person and gave me hope.Staff were a pleasure.

Hard to know. Question whether many of us get same diagnosis-candida, hypothyroid, etc. Huge amounts of supplements which are very costly. She worked with Atkins whom I did not have a good experience with.

Though I love the IDEA of what Dr. Cohen has to offer, I'm not really sure about her. I've been to the office a few times and what I've noted most problematically is that she has a decided lack of patience as well as is fairly quick to make judgements that are either off base or really lacking in deep understanding. This is probably most ironic to me given the abundance of Buddhist sculptures in her office as well as a photo of her with the Dalai Lama. Honestly, I would have expected far more compassion for human struggle from her, both since she clearly feels an affinity for Buddhism as well as what I deem important to a doctor who does integrative medicine. It leaves me feeling very ambivalent.
