Dr. Dana Hughes Henderson, PhD

I was scheduled 3 appts with Dr. Henderson for my company’s EAP program. I am of Latino descent and have strong values of family and independence. Unfortunately, Dr. Henderson could not understand my values and why they mattered. I was talked over and interrupted many times and was given “advice”. She even said “stupid” as a response to a statement I made, although it was not referred to me, it’s a term that was not appropriately used. She’s very old school- she’s the “expert” in the room. Her assumptions were dangerous and not welcoming. I do not recommend this psychologist to a person of color. It’s obvious that she has not served diverse clients. I gave it two chances and didn’t attend my final 3rd session. Therapy is not advice or assumptions- it’s empathy, reflection, guidance, understanding and support. I hope she retires soon or takes courses to understand diversity, culture and variations.

She made me feel terrible, judged, didn't really ask questions for me to get to a conclusion but rather tried to force her own opinion on me. In the end, she didn't help. I left crying as she said she had to get to another client. Would never recommend.

I would not recommend using Dr. Henderson. She was nice before our appointment but that quickly changed when she she stood us up. Gave a date and time, where I immediately responded confirming. Day of I sat out front of her locked office for 20 min. Called and emailed, no response. It took 2 emails for her to actually respond. She didn’t even apologize for her no show to our appt. Her response was you should have called to confirm. Really? When all communication was through email why would that not be a sufficient response to confirm? Such a complete lack of professionalism and disrespect for my time.

Dr. Henderson is the very best and has changed my life dramatically. I love her professionalism and just her overall. I have seen other doctor's but Dr. Henderson is the very best.
