Dr. Daniel Clifford Bowen, MD

I think Dr. Bowen and Michelle are wonderful. I have been with them for 6 years. However, one of the receptionists, Nicki, is downright rude! I feel like the receptionist is the front runner, and especially in an OB/GYN office they need to be kind and considerate. She has had me on the verge of tears before. I am highly considering switching OB's because of this poor office staff.

I delivered my first baby with Dr. Bowen in 2013 and had an absolutely wonderful experience. He has a ton of patients but treats you like you're the only one--takes the time to listen, answer questions, explain things, etc. He's also completely unflappable when things get dicey--I had some minor complications during delivery and never felt like he didn't have things 100% under control.

Please be aware that Dr. Bowen is apparently against genetic counseling/testing and will not tell you this up front. I had been very happy with my experiences with Dr. Bowen for several years up until recently. At 12.5 weeks into my second pregnancy (the first ending in miscarriage at 7 weeks), he responded to our question "so, when do we discuss genetic screening/testing and whether we should do that" with the statement "I do not believe in terminating pregnancies."Even after we explained that we were wanting to know if we should even be concerned based on family members with chromosomal abnormalities and my being over 35, as we at least wanted to be prepared - he refused to talk AT ALL about anything to do with this. He mumbled a bit about not wanting to give us "old information" and said he would refer us somewhere else to talk about our concerns. Repeatedly said he would schedule us in "2 weeks" to talk to a genetic counselor and gave this instruction to the office clerk who was… unable to contact anyone while we were there and sent us home with the phone number to call ourselves.After we left his office, we did our own research that night and learned that at his instructed 14.5 weeks we would be left with only 1 option, an invasive amniocentesis - we would have missed all of the no-risk screening opportunities. We scrambled to get appt with a genetics specialist right away after he gave us not only the wrong timing, but the wrong phone number (gave us a fertility clinic number to call) and we still had to fight to get the written referral from Dr. Bowen's office to confirm appointment but luckily screening shows low probability of problems.I therefore do not recommend Dr. Bowen if you want to be fully informed.

Dr Bowen is one of the most caring doctors I've ever visited. He listens to his patients, not only listens but hears what they are saying. He delivered two of my children. Wonderful experience, excellent doctor.

Dr. Bowen is very caring and open, he likes unmedicated births and is so helpful. He spent lots of time with me and never made me feel rushed. The office staff is great

Dr. Bowen is the best OB in the Cincinnati area for women wanting as natural a birth experience as possible. He really listens and does a great job of providing choices. He has a low-key, relaxed vision of childbirth -- trusting nature's wisdom, but has the training and experience to provide interventions when necessary. While I often have to wait during an office visit, I know that this is because he takes the time to truly communicate with his patients rather than rushing them through an exam.

so awesome! He always gives moms choices. He's not one of those doctors who thinks they know everything, and he takes time to explain things. He's great!

# 1 doc in the tri-state. I drive about 45 minutes to see him. Great bedside manner and very knowledgable.
