Saw me once and tried to tell me dizziness was Part of a seizure which I know is not true and questioned my trust in him demanding I do what he told me to do and now im stuck with him because my physician refuses to refer me to another one

Doctor Champey is a awesome doctor who listens to his patients and takes the time to understand their issues. He will do all that he can to ensure that his patients has the best care! I have migraines, and that was my first complaint when I went to see him. I also has frequent falls, which he then performed a EMG to get my proper diagnosis. For years other doctors had medicated me but never diagnosed me. It was great to actually know what was going on in my body. I personally recommend this Dr.

I was hit by someone who was going 60 to 70 mph. My husband's back was broke and I was hit in the head by a water fountain. After the people in the ER sent me home with an antihistamine for anxiety, I wailed in agony, vomiting for two days. in order to get help with the occipital nerve which was inflamed, I had to drive to Duke. My husband's neurologist at the VA who was on loan from Duke took one look at me and said oh my God go right across the street to Duke. After several visits at Duke, I was told to see a neurologist. I Saw doctor Champey once and then had an EEG. The EEG came back with some abnormalities. I was also sent to have cognitive testing. Several of the tests came back very low normal. I had to wait 5 months to get the results of the EEG due to the hurricane and appointments being pushed back for vacations for Dr. Champey. Dr. Champey'a own report says that my EEG results are suggestive that I have a lesion on the left temporal lobe. The hospital says there is none… from their CT scan. There is one. I could find it. I also had a friend who done it for 30 years look and she found it. But he wanted to argue about whether or not she was a doctor. Apparently, his diagnosis, despite the fact that I got hit by somebody who pushed my trunk into the backseat of my car and broke my husband's back, I need to see a psychiatrist for a year. Run. This to me smacks of the early century misogynist attitude of "let's send the little woman off to the sanitarium for being emotional" after she got hurt. My mother started having headaches, then seizures and was told to go and lose weight. She died 18 months later after they told her to seek psychiatric help from a tumor in her brain the size of a grapefruit. Her neurologist told her she needed a psychiatrist. If they had found it at the time she would have lived. My oldest cousin, also a woman, had a tumor on her pituitary and developed acromegaly. For over a decade they told her there was nothing wrong with her and sent her to a psychiatrist while she was having some kind of seizures. One of my friends started having seizures after being on Mirena. They told her that she was making it up. She was a security guard complete with a gun and passing out in the middle of her duties. They sent her to a psychiatrist. They told all of us that our issues were psychosomatic and I sent us home. She's also dead. if you want a doctor that's actually going to listen to you and help you figure out what's wrong, this isn't the one. I think it's the whole Carolina East system. Their ER doctor didn't check my pupils sent me home with a concussion with no help after treating me badly and her nurses were laughing at me. Then I went to my GP who was on vacation and they had to hand me off to someone else. It took me months to get anybody to see me and help me. Would you like to know who it is that does take me seriously and help me? Duke. I have to drive to Duke to get help and to get people to take me seriously. They can look at the problems and treat the problems instead of sending me off to a psychiatrist for a year. Once again.. if you really want to be helped, RUN! This is not the doctor that will listen to you and help you. Oh and by the way, would you like to know why I was stressed on the psych eval? My roof fell in during a hurricane. Insurance company said they weren't going to pay for it. Has nothing to do with the freaking accident.

He was a very good help to me!! He was very kind and was not rude!!!!

My visit with Dr. Champey was not only disappointing but bothered me for several months after. I found him to be extremely cocky, condescending, abrupt and rude. I was amazed that he even had a practice given his lack of customer service and less than poor bedside manner. I was not comfortable enough to explain my symptoms because he questioned me with a judgmental belittling demeanor. I like the facility where his office is and the extremely kind, courteous, prompt staff however I will not subject myself to his unproffessional services again. I would recommend he take a course on customer service asap.

Pissy attitide, would talk over me when I was trying to tell him what was wrong.... diagnosed me with migranes...loaded me up on meds that werent needed.... went to a different Dr., he diagnosed with deviated septum, fixed nose...no more headaches...cocky young doctor that needs to listen to his patients, and needs much more experience and definately needs to learn some bedside manner... would aviod for a more seasoned neurolgist...
