Please seek another opinion Show little empathy for patients He didn’t go over my sons X-ray. I don’t think he even read it Curves got worse. There are alternatives to fusion go somewhere else!!!!

My son was born with R side torticollis for which he received PT and chiropractic intervention. We followed up with our local pediatric specialists and realized we needed a second opinion. I researched and found Boston had a complex cervical spine program. Dr. Proctor and Dr. Hedaquists were phenomenal is how they dealt with my son, how they explained things to myself and my husband. We follow up annually until possible surgical intervention and reach out when we have any further questions but couldn’t be happier with this team.

Our last visit with Dr Hedequist was terrible. He didn’t go over my sons X-ray. Stated on of his curves thoracic was 23 degrees within 6 degrees in margin of error. Got second opinion a week later both curves were over 45 degrees. He wanted to blow my son off for 3 months. Disgraceful- filed complaint with Children’s and got nowhere Get a second opinion!!!!

I love dr hedrquest so much I looked at may spine doctors and he was the one to do my spine fusion. He is so kind and was great at explaining things in a way other people understood him not just doctor talk. I waited 45 minutes for another doctor at children’s hospital but I only waited 10 for hedequest. He is doing my surgery and can’t wait to have a pain free life just because of hum

My child had spinal surgery and we saw Dr Hedequist for a post surgical consult. He reviewed the case thoroughly, examined my child and spoke to us about his findings. He had excellent recommendations for testing and follow up, to the point that we switched to his post-operative care from the surgeon we used. He is a caring and brilliant surgeon.

He's the best! We'd trust noone else with our daughters' spine condition.

My 16 year old, very atheletic son, had been diagnosed with schuermanns kyphosis 2 years ago. Roughly 9 months ago he started expeiriencing back pain somtimes severe back pain.He gave up working out at the gym, wrestling and track. He continued to try and keep fit with a very strict diet and using light weights at home. Any weight bearing activity increased his pain but he is16 and wants to be fit. After many trips to his peidiatrician, Ortho Carolina Urgent Care, the ER and under going physical therapy to no avail, my son and I flew from Charlotte to Boston to meet with Dr. Hedequist.I liked him right away. He has a subtle witt and charm about him . He suggested surgery as an option but was very blount with his statitical information. He told my son, Noah when he was tired of living with the pain to have me e-mail him. I think a week or two later Noah asked if I would please e-mail him. I waited a day or two to make sure this is what he wanted. My son then called me at work and… asked again if I would send an e-mail, so I did. Dr. Hedequist response was very quick. He sent me the name and number of his scheduler so we could set a date for surgery. The date was a little far out but that was good because it gave us more time to decide if it was the right thing.My son had spinal fusion 2 weeks ago and is doing very well. I had to call Dr. Hedequist office this week because I had a minor concern . He called me back promptly and took care of my concerns.He, the hospital and the staff made a great impression on me and my son. As an added bonus for any of you moms who read this he is also quiet pretty to look at.

This doctor was 40 + minutes late with no apology ...for an 8 am appointment? Spent less then 20 minutes in total including leaving the room to read the x ray. Seemed very bored, uninterested, and in a hurry to be somewhere else. Informed us that my teenage son's scoliosis is no problem and he "never needs to have his back looked at again in his life"!!! Thanks for the fortune telling! A very unhelpful visit. By the way, our younger son was just diagnosed at the NIH with a rare neuromuscular disorder involving the spine. NIH recommended the spinal x ray and ortho visit for older brother. This doctor was not even mildly interested. Too many other great doctors at Children's to waste your time on this one.

A fine and extremely knowledgable surgeon. Successfully diagnosed and corrected a complicated spine fusion in my child. Highly recommend Dr Hedequist after researching several of the top Boston surgeons out there.
