Dr. Daniel Jason Holtzman, MD

Dr. Holtzman replaced my severely deteriorated hip with a metal prosthesis. He carefully showed me my before (and after) X-rays and explained in detail what to expect before, during and after surgery. He soothed my apprehension and made me feel confident about what was happening. His follow-up has been excellent. Now I only regret not having this surgery sooner. I went from needing walker and wheelchair assistance to being pain free! I would readily recommend Dr. Holtzman to anyone who needs orthopedic assessment and/or surgery.

When contemplating complete shoulder replacement on both shoulders, I naturally had concerns about what the outcome would/could be. Dr Holtzman answered all my questions and did a nearly perfect job. Unfortunately I had a challenging encounter with a PT who fractured a small bone on the upper shoulder. Dr Holtzman knew what had happened and explained it clearly to me, as well as fixing it. He was professional, both in his skill as a surgeon and his interpersonal patient relationships.

I went in for a full right knee replacement directly after surgery I had issues with my right foot. When I went for a follow up with Dr. Holtzman he said he didn't know what it was, but it is nothing he did. I kept asking him what happened and he didn't know and couldn't figure it out. He took no accountability in whatever happened in the operating room that day. Please be careful. All I did wrong was use him as a surgeon.

Dr. Holtzman has replaced both of my shoulders. He did an excellent job, and I have nearly 100% use of both arms now. Dr. Holtzman carefully explained what to expect before, during and after the procedures. He has been attentive to handling a complication that arose and has quickly responded by email or phone to any of my concerns. He has a great staff of physical therapists and others that have made appointments and recovery go smoothly. I strongly recommend him for any orthopedic work anyone would need on their shoulders.

I'm not big on reviews but I had a fabulous result on my revision knee replacement at MGH several months ago and I couldn't be happier with the result. This is my second knee replacement on the same knee from an earlier one I had about 12 years ago. This time everything went so smooth, the recovery time was fast and virtually pain free. I am back to my daily activities including riding my favorite horse Nugget and things are great. From what I understand Dr. Holtzman was doing his fellowship at MGH and he has done hundreds of these revision knee replacements. He was so informative with me regarding the procedure, expectations, timeline and the prospective outcomes I felt I understood what to experience and the timelines of when I would regain full function. Dr. Holtzman was also very attentive after the surgery to follow-up with me and my experience while I was in the hospital. I felt he was sincere with his interest in my outcome and well being. The staff at MGH were also… professional and caring. This whole operation went off without any glitches! I never want another knee replacement but if I did I would want Dr. Holtzman performing it.
