I have seen Dr. Hwang twice. The first visit was not comfortable, but I agreed to see him again, hoping the first visit was simply an off day for Dr Hwang. This was a referral so I did not know anything about this doctor. Now that I have looked at his credentials I realize that he has not been in practice long at all. I waited a long time to write this review because I simply put it behind me and wrote it off as a bad experience. But now, I am writing this hoping that it might help others. The first visit I felt that the doctor could not handle my problem. He even admitted that he was not sure how to proceed. I felt that he was a bit lost, maybe not sure of himself, but in the end, he would at least discuss our visit with his colleagues. He told me to use eye drops and revisit him in a few weeks. After I explained to him, FOR THE SECOND TIME that I had already been using the eye drops for months, he had no idea what to say next. I could see he was searching for something to say.… Anything to get me to return for the next appointment. I asked all the appropriate questions that I knew to ask, but no answers, and no plan. Just come back in a few weeks. I left the office not knowing the cause of my problem, and with no plan. I did as he asked, I did keep the next appointment. Sorry to say, he was the same as during the first visit. Lost! He told me he could not do surgery in the Athens area yet, he was not licensed or vetted (whatever the correct word is) anywhere except Atlanta. From there he went on to say that my problem would take many visits with him, extending around a year or so. First he wanted to freeze my lashes. Just in case they were the problem! Just in case! But just guessing! He really had no idea what to do, but JUST IN CASE, he was going to start by removing my lashes. Next, he insisted I drive to see him, and ONLY him, so he could see the problem as it was happening. I told him it was many many miles, and he was only there 1 day a month. OH, YOU ARE RIGHT, WELL THAT DOESN'T WORK DOES IT! No joke. He was not listening. Again, I asked questions, with no answers. BUT, even though he had no answers, no plan, and no idea what to do, he kept insisting that I keep using the same eye drops that I had been using for over 6 months, and keep scheduling appointments with him. He never offered any reasons for my problems, never offered any plan, and never answered my questions. I truly need help, so I was praying that he would come up with something. It was as if another doctor should have been whispering in his ear the correct answers, he admitted it, he did not know what the next step was, or how to proceed. He offered nothing. BUT, he was adamant that I should keep seeing him. At the end of the second visit I requested my files. I believe that Dr. Hwang is fairly new and did not know that patients are not fools. This was a case of either EGO or MONEY. Ego, being that he should have asked for help if he did not know what to do. But instead he made himself and the clinic look bad not knowing what to do and yet thinking the patient would just keep seeing him, even with out explanation or plan. Second, the money.... in this case he just wanted to get as many office visits and test from me before doing what he knew would have to be done to resolve the problem or at least come up with a plan. But, because he was not authorized to use any of the local hospitals, I felt that he was trying to keep me on hold. He never gave me information, set up a plan or offered any reasons. Yet, collecting money each and every time I visited him for the next year. Either way, this situation also make the referral doctor look bad also. I hope this helps someone that may be looking to this doctor for help.
