Dr. Daniel C Mathews, MD

Don’t know why I’ve waited so long to write a review for Dr. Mathews. I have been a patient of his for almost two years and feel profoundly that I would not be here today if it weren’t for the work we’ve done together. The beginning of the work centered around mood stabilization and emotional regulation. Over time, my response to stimuli became easier and easier and now we work through more challenges that I thought I would never be prepared to handle. I went from a nervous and depressive person who isolated and hustled throughout the day, to someone who actively engages in life and with my community. I embrace challenges and accept my failures instead of breaking down and giving up. (Example: I have wanted to write a review several times but became overwhelmed with exactly what I should say, or afraid that if it’s not perfect I’ll sound stupid...but now, I understand that doing something, saying anything is more important to me because it keeps me engaged in the things that are… important to me). so yeah. Big improvements :) I thought that to be “good” or “successful” in life one wasn’t supposed to have as many challenges as I did on the everyday menial things. Dr. Mathews slowly and compassionately changed that logic and worked with me to learn how to cope and respond in new ways. He helps me to understand the “why” behind how I think and feel, then points me into the direction of growth. I appreciate that his experience spans over many different sectors of the mental health industry. He is impeccably organized and staffs an amazing scheduling/billing team who I have never had difficulty in reaching - funny though, he seems to be able to do all of the parts of the various jobs himself, as well. I can’t say enough good stuff about Dr. Mathews. While I know each person needs to find their own good fit, know that he is incredibly intentional about the care that he gives.

I was able to feel so much better in just a few months of seeing Dr. Mathews. He's really friendly and easy to talk to about my past. His appointments don't feel rushed and he always takes time to answer my questions around medications. It's great that he found a combo of medications that have really worked for me and I think his counseling has really helped in my personal life. Would definitely recommend him to others!

Dr. Mathews was more focused on time than what I was saying. Horrible experience. I'm not psychotic just dealing with a lot, but he had no empathy or bedside manner.
