Summary

Daniel Sciubba, MD, is a national leader in neurosurgery and a distinguished author of more than 600 peer-reviewed clinical articles. He is the chair of neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, co-director of the Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Northwell Health and the chair of neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Sciubba has received wide recognition for his clinical expertise. He's ranked by Expertscape as one of the top five spine surgeons and spinal oncology clinicians in the world and has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for many years. In addition to his medical degree, he holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and two complex spine fellowships at Johns Hopkins University and Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.Today, his clinical focus includes neurosurgery and spine surgery, but extends to rare cancers and tumors of the spine as well. Dr. Sciubba is one of the few surgeons in the world who perform life-saving "en bloc" surgeries, which patients come from all over the country to receive. "When a patient can get married, see their child graduate, or have another birthday-that's important to me."A widely recognized researcher, Dr. Sciubba literally "wrote the book" on spine tumor surgery-it's called Spinal Tumor Surgery: A Case-Based Approach, and it's the cornerstone of technical expertise in today's current field. He also wrote Chordoma of the Spine: A Comprehensive Review, which details a rare cancer he's uniquely qualified to treat. When it comes to his approach to care, Dr. Sciubba's expertise is strengthened by his team. He works alongside medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and more, honing a multidisciplinary approach to care that treats each patient like the individual they are. Dr. Sciubba even appoints a social worker to each of his patients, helping them tackle the emotional trial that accompanies their physical conditions. Dr. Sciubba was drawn to neurosurgery because conditions in this field can be highly debilitating. "Protecting someone's ability to walk, to think, to speak, is protecting what makes them human," he says. "There's nothing more fulfilling or rewarding than that."

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.

Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
