Dr. Daniel Edward Smith, MD

Seeing him was the most dehumanizing experience I have ever had with a physician. I was in the midst of a severe, acute psychotic break along with depression and anorexia. I was quite stressed from my delusions, and when I expressed my distress to him, he told me "I think i'm done with you for today." He switched my meds weekly, he saw me extremely briefly, he did not recommend for me to see a counselor, and he did not give them impression of caring about his job or being empathetic. Apparently lacks insight as well. He had a reputation for giving adderall out like candy.

There is a reason he worked at the counseling center of colleges for decades. He believes that all conditions, regardless of severity, should be treatment with psychotropic med. Even when there is no clear clinical indication/diagnosis, he prescribes med all the same to students, as long as they survive thru college.

Dr. Smith is wonderful and extremely knowledgeable! I saw him for about 4 years and wish I still could, but he practices at UT so you have to be a student to see him.
