Dr. Daniel Joel Tomes, MD

Dr Tomes is direct and professional. Tells you what you need to do to heal. He always says NURSES do all the work. As a nurse for 40 plus years I have never heard any other physicians give such credit to nurses.

Did my back surgery. Still in pain and pawned me off to a pain doctor. Don't go to him. Very disappointed.

Dr Tomes recently did my back surgery. Prior to surgery, he seemed encouraging. Immediately after surgery- I couldn’t get ahold of him to ask questions, his office was not helpful either with questions, and each visit post op was less than 5 minutes. It is hard- he did I’m sure a fine job on the surgery in general- but the after care is VERY important with healing- and he has been anything but helpful. In fact, he has seemed annoyed with each and every question. I would not recommend him because if you’re like me (not a doctor...) you’ll most likely have questions- need explanation on how to properly heal (what to do, what not to do, ext.) . You will not get this with him or his office. I completed my appointments with him- each time leaving in tears and decided today was the last day I’d leave not heard.

Saw Dr Tomes in the hospital after an accident. He literally saved my life, I will be forever grateful to him!

I usually don't write on these things, but I was surprised by the bad reviews. I had a great experience with Dr Tomes and his staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and personable. I waited in the lobby less than 5 minutes and was taken back. Dr Tomes explained my condition and the treatment options very well- he even drew pictures of my spine and what it looked like. When I finally decided surgery was what I wanted to do, their office didn't waste any time. one person called my insurance company, the other called my pcp to get a preop. the whole thing took about 10 minutes and I was scheduled for surgery the next week! I felt so much better after the surgery. I would totally tell my friends and family to see him!

The worst Dr I have ever been to put me down and didnt help me at all.

I was hospitalized with a head injury. I never saw him in person until I had been there 24 hours. That doesn't mean a whole lot because he told me at our first meeting he had reviewed the CT scans and was not worried enough to do anything about them. He had another surgery to perform. I am perfectly okay with the wait. I had been evaluated and found stable. He is direct and not 'fluffy'. I'm okay with that too. Get your questions together and ask away. He will answer...don't expect a long conversation about your dog though. Business all the way.

He was attentive to my pain and situation. He offered 2 solutions and supported my choice. My surgery was scheduled promptly and the result was everything I had hoped for.

Dr. Tomes was very pompous, condescending to his patient and dismissive toward family members. Rather than answering questions, he kept talking the superiority of his qualifications and disparaging the opinions of other medical professionals. He might be a good surgeon surgeon but we found him to be a rude human being.

My mother was in an accident and taken to a hospital in Lincoln, NE. Mr. Tomes was one of the doctors brought in to consult on her case. She is low income with no insurance and all he did was provide a consultation and charge about nine times more than anyone else. I would be ok with that if I felt like we got something special for it but what we got was a doctor more concerned with when she is going to pay him than he ever was concerned with doing something to earn that pay, aside from getting a doctorate. If I describe more of how we were treated by his practice I am sure people will think I am bitter and making things up. So let me just say this, consider matching the hospital low income assistance means if you get assistance they will threaten collections and payment plan means you have until they finish the collections paperwork to come up with the money. If you have good insurance and pay in advance he may actually act like a doctor but I didn't see it.
