Dr. Daniel Thomas Torzala, MD

My name is Esra C. I visited Dr. Torzala on the recommendation of my primary care doctor due to severe headaches. Dr. was one hour late passed appointment time, walked in the room, no eye contact, absolutely not ready for me with no knowledge of my issues. I explained my problems with headaches, and he prescribed 90 pills of painkillers (gabapentin 300mg)and told me to come back in a month. The entire encounter lasted less than two minutes. I requested a second opinion, went to see ENT doctor and found out that I needed a sinus surgery which happened within two weeks of my ent doctors diagnosis..... i’ve been pain-free the last three years, but still can’t forget how bad Dr. Torzala was .

May 2020 My wife could not move her legs for 1 week. We came in with serious concerns about a spinal cord injury and wanted answers to how we could treat the condition. We waited 1 hour past our appointment time before being seen. Not having read our intake forms, Dr. Torzala entered the room without knowing why we were there, and proceeded to check reflexes and then sensation (briskly) with a tuning fork. He said it was 'bad' and told us to schedule another appointment on our way out. At this point he had probably been in the room for 1 min 15 seconds, so I said 'hold on, we came in here with concerns about lack of motor control, paresthesias, and pain. Aren't you going to address them?' My wife mentioned that she is probably a complex case since she is type 1 diabetic, and he said 'it's neuropathy' and turned to go. I confronted him and said 'if it is neuropathy then why don't he legs work? Why the pain? Why did it all start with the recent spinal cord injury?' He said 'oh, an… injury? Well I will still need an EMG and NVC study before I can say anything'. I asked him to sit down. I asked him if he could offer anything to add value to our situation and he said he only diagnoses but that we would just have to schedule all these tests for him to do that (coming from a guy that didn't know anything about us yet, it was hard to believe that he wasn't going to waste our time with these generic tests). I literally asked him what his rush was and if he could please just answer our questions. None of our questions were answered (I am still shocked as I write this). He gave us that cop-out answer of neuropathy and never addressed the spinal cord injury or larger symptoms. I felt like a this doctor's personal fund raiser and my wife left even more stressed that she might have neuropathy on top of her spine injury (she's 25 years old with a healthy A1c). We were literally worse off for seeing him due to the time waste, financial drain, and additional psychological stress of his off the cuff neuropathy diagnosis. He made $268.00 for his 5-6min with us. Then on our way out, I saw him enter the next patient room and emerge less than 2 min later shouting up to the front desk to schedule them again for their next 6mo appointment. Why do we let any doctor treat us this way? Want to be his fund raiser? Or do you want healthcare? How did he ever establish himself in this profession? What did he put in his medical documentation for our 5-6min visit? I am baffled. I could not be more disappointed. I do not think he should practice.

Didn't get back with me for MRI

Dr. Torzala figured out what was wrong with me and explained it in terms I could understand. He helped a lot with my condition and gave me hope for the future.

I had problems with constant headaches and had tried a variety of medications from my family doctor, acupuncture, and chiropractic treatment with no good results. Dr. Torzala diagnosed my condition on the first visit and persisted until he found the best treatment which did not include painkillers. He is very interested in good quality of life and I find him a caring and flexible physician.

Excellent doctor! He found the cause of my vertigo and fixed it in the office. So many other doctors couldn't figure it out but he did. He explained the problem in terms I could understand and was very easy to talk to.
