Dr. Darshan K Kapadia, MD

Dr. Kapadia is an incredible doctor with tremendous amounts of knowledge, experience, and credentials. He is a former president of the medical staff at Texas Health Plano and chairman of the department of Internal Medicine. I have been seeing him for 15+ years, and the way he practices is unlike any physician I have seen. When you go to Dr. Kapadia’s office, you are evaluated solely by himself and get a 100% of his attention. He spends a minimum of 30 minutes with me each visit, and spent 1 hour with me my first visit. He is a very conservative doctor who always listens to any concerns I may have. I’ve always noticed he does not run a high volume practice so that he can spend a lot of time with each patient. He has a great personality, and is a wonderful man. He is the most experienced physician I have been with, and is a true pro in what he does. If you are looking for an internist, I strongly recommend Dr. Kapadia.

The care was good enough I suppose. Dr. Kapadia is nice and seems to be a good enough doctor. But when my insurance changed to a plan he wasn't in, I was forced to change doctors. Even though I asked in the office and mailed a letter asking for my medical records to sent to the new doctor, that was never done. (Against the law!) Not long after the change, the new doctor was out-of-town when I experienced an emergency. Scared and desperate, I called Dr. Kapadia hoping to get some help even if I had to pay out of my own pocket. I was told he was with a patient but the staff would ask him if he would see me and call me back. That meant he was in town and in the office, but unbelievably, I never had the courtesy of any returned call. Even if he refused to see me, a phone call to say that would have been nice so that I would stop waiting on him and get help somewhere else. Nope. Nada. Instead I had a VERY expensive emergency room visit for something he could have easily… handled, and my visit took emergency room doctor and nursing staff time and resources from others for an issue that should have been handled in a primary care doctor's office. It was so disappointing that Dr. Kapadia's office didn't have the integrity to call me back even with notification he wouldn't see me.

My much beloved doctor of many years retired, forcing me to find a new one. I was skeptical I'd ever find one as good. Then I met Dr. Kapadia. He is an excellent diagnostician who is kind, caring, and compassionate. He listens intently to me and he explains things in terms I understand. He's a straight talker, which I need! He doesn't let me get away with much but is also my biggest cheerleader when I'm doing well. He doesn't have an office nurse, so he does the vitals, etc. himself. I like that. He's also the one who returns my phone calls when I have questions. He's very "hands on" with my care, and I never feel like my needs are unaddressed or ignored. I appreciate that he truly hears my concerns about medications and is willing to consider alternatives. He also is concerned about the cost of my meds and helps me contain the expense. His staff is very kind and always helpful, always friendly and accommodating, especially when I have to change appointments. I always… receive "service with a smile." Best around. Hope he never retires!
