Dr. Darwin Lauren Brown, MD

Very bad beside manner, very egotistical and confrontational. Did not want to listen to me at all. Kept cutting me off, repeatedly. I came in with a list of about 2 dozen symptoms and he was only interested in my top 3, which caught me off guard. I chose 3 and he told me those were not endocrine related symptoms. One of my main complaints was my dry eyes and he said I need to see an eye doctor and the thyroid doesn’t affect the eyes… right after his RN literally told me she thought I had Graves’ disease specifically because I had eye involvement. My PCP told me the same thing. I told him I was tired of being gaslighted by doctors. He asked very directly if I felt he was gaslighting me, to which I replied, “Yes, a little bit. You keep interrupting me and aren’t interested in what I have to say.” He told me to tell him what I wanted iso I told him about past positive results I had on thyroid and autoimmune tests and listed the rest of my symptoms. When I was done he very curtly and… condescendingly asked, “Are you done?” He was incredibly rude. I choked back tears and anger during the rest of the visit. He stated that he wouldn’t treat me based on my test results but come back “as needed”. I made it clear there would be no return visit. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. On a side note, when I went to the bathroom, I was overwhelmed by fragrance. I noticed they had THREE air fresheners on the counter. Many air fresheners contain endocrine disrupting chemicals which are not listed on the label. How does an endocrinologist not know that?

I don't review things online. Let me get that out of the way to begin with. It's just not something I take the time to do. This doctor's office has been so incredibly rude, unorganized, and incompetent, that I had to write this. I recently began being treated by Dr. Brown, at my PCP's referral. I found his bedside manner to be great and he seems very intelligent. Being my new doctor and a specialist, I asked for a med related to his specialty to be sent to my pharmacy. In lieu of my PCP continuing to prescribe it. They repeatedly sent in the wrong prescription. I asked them to correct it multiple times. I got insurance involved to help. I got the pharmacy involved. So much, that they recognize my name now. Finally the doctor reached out to clarify things. "Awesome", I thought. Now it'll get resolved. Nope, they never called it in. In the meantime, my PCP prescribed me one refill of this med I take. This was because my insurance was trying to get it filled before I ran out. Well, it's… a few weeks later and I'm halfway through what I got from my PCP, so I check with the pharmacy. Nope, still don't have one from them. So I emailed Dr. Brown's office and ask for their script to be instead sent to my mail order pharmacy. I thought this might just make it all easier. Well, I was dead wrong. Instead, Dr. Brown calls me and says he's dropping me. I'm trying to re-fill my script too often. The script his office has never successfully sent to the pharmacy. I was shocked. I tried to ask questions to understand, he cuts me off. I'm basically having a panic attack, because I have no clue where he got all this and he won't listen. Very long story short, I got with the pharmacy. His office called and found out I filled the one from my PCP and that was it. They didn't ask the pharmacist for details at all. Just made a determination with barely any info. Thankfully the pharmacist said they'd clear it all up! Nope, doesn't matter to this Dr. Still thinks the pharmacy has the script. Won't listen to me. Won't even ask the pharmacist. I then made the obvious mistake of expecting an apology for weeks of stress and confusion, all caused by his inept office. Nope, he said he won't do that and dropped me anyway. So here I am, writing into the void. Please just don't do this to yourself. Don't go to this office. Find someone else. You deserve to be treated with respect and a doctor who is adult enough to admit mistakes. Any doctor who cannot do that, does not have their patient's best interest at heart. Oh and if anyone doubts this, message me. I have screenshots of all of it. I'm happy to share. TLDR: Stay away for you own health. You deserve better.

When I first started coming to Dr. Brown, (recommended by the gynecologist) things seemed fine. I was very unfamiliar with endocrinology and thyroid conditions, so after fearing I was going to get a PCOS diagnosis, I instead was told I had hashimotos (hypothyroidism) and would be taking levothyroxine the rest of my life. I didn’t deal with too many issues for awhile after beginning to take the medication. However when my menstrual cycle started giving me problems again almost two years later, my gynecologist mentioned to me again the possibility of having PCOS. I was not understanding why she brought this up because I assumed that Dr. Brown, being an endocrinologist would have informed me if I had PCOS. So I went to see him again after just having an appointment 2 or 3 weeks prior. He was very inconsiderate and insensitive to women’s issues and was very disrespectful towards me. Asking me why I was concerned about whether or not I had PCOS was unacceptable, and even telling me after… doing some labs he couldn’t give me a direct diagnosis (although my next endocrinologist could). I spent so much time being confused about who diagnosed PCOS, endocrinology or gynecology. Then after one elevated liver test, he made me out to look like a foolish person taking all kinds of vitamins because I mentioned I do take a few supplements that are good for people with underactive thyroid, such as selenium, because I couldn’t recall everything I was taking in the appointment at that moment, and insisted I was doing something crazy to damage my liver because I was looking at different things online, despite the fact that I mentioned I just completed a detox regimen. These accusations and assumptions were very disrespectful. At the end of the day I’ve come to realize conventional medicine doctors don’t bother dealing with the root cause, but just want you to be on medication your entire life instead of addressing the fact that your body is not meant to attack itself as it does in the case of thyroid disease. They don’t want you doing research to find these answers either, because it takes money out of their pocket. While I’m thankful for medication, it’s not an excuse to ignore root causes. I would encourage people to look into functional medicine, where the root cause it addressed and you aren’t just looked at as a set of symptoms and thrown medication to deal with it forever. Medications are great for the time being, but getting your body healed and whole should be the priority. In the meantime, get yourself a doctor who has more compassion and sensitivity and doesn’t find himself getting upset because patients want to know the truth about what diagnoses they have and want to improve their quality of life outside of what they are willing to let their patients know.

He refused to treat me because I refused to take insulin that made me gain wt and did note improve my A1C his recommendation of diet with cards contributes to elevated glucose level makes me worse.

The worse! Gives false information and is very arrogant not to mention confrontational! I would not let him wait on my dead dog! Patients be were and run fast!

I have been doing a version of the ketogenic diet, lost 20 pounds over the course of 3 months, and my blood sugars have vastly improved and I now take less insulin than ever before. But no matter to this intelligent endocrinologist who said he cannot treat me after meeting me for my first session stating that, "low carbohydrate diets are not standard practice to treat diabetics," and I left without an Rx for test strips or insulin. I am stunned by his refusal to accept that low carbs = less insulin = lose weight. He would rather I eat carbohydrates and gain weight and increase my blood sugars and keep me sick so that I can be treated. I highly recommend to any diabetic who wants to take control of their lives to read the book, "Diabetes Solution," by Dr. Richard Bernstein. So beware to any diabetic individual who wants to lower their carbs, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!

I found Dr. Brown to be very engaging and enjoyed my conversation with him a great deal. He was easy to understand. Even though this was my first visit with him, I had a good, comfortable feeling with the information.

As the title states, I love Dr. Brown! After being diagnosed with Type one Diabetes at age 29/30 3 years ago by Dr Brown, I struggled to understand/ manage and cope with this disease. I went from no meds to taking insulin 5+ times a day. Dr Brown is compassionate, understanding, and lets me cry when I get frustrated with this disease. I am glad he is a young doctor, so hopefully I can keep him a long time!! Also he is sharp as a tack, and I really like that someone so smart is taking care of me. Thank you Dr. Brown!

I have been seeing Dr. Brown for over 5 years now he is a great doctor. I have never had any problems with him or his staff

I have absolutely no complaints about Dr. Darwin Brown or the staff that I have dealt directly with at the office where he works. I've been there about four times now, and all of my experiences have been pleasant. My only complaint is that you have to pay for parking, and that's not Dr. Brown's fault. I'd highly recommend him as an endocrinologist.
