Dr. Daveed Frazier

Stay away!, Dr. Frazier put my Fusion screws on top of nerves and ruined my life! A snake oil salesman

He will spend lots of time with you, but I personally found him to be a bit of a bully. During my consultation he was insisting that I need surgery NOW otherwise I'm making his job harder. Meanwhile several other surgeons told me it can wait a few months with not incurring any additional problems. He also suggested a front, back, front surgery approach. When many other surgeons said "just" open back would be 95% effective. Very risky!

Dr. Frazier is like a used car salesman. Promises 90% success rate only to have your back ruined and need a complete revision. Staff is not helpful and the Dr. only cares that he gets his insurance payments. Once he’s paid, you’re no longer a patient. Avoid at all costs.

When I left Dr. Frazier’s office for the first time, I knew I was in the right place. He instilled confidence in me. He is the very best!!! I also want to acknowledge his staff, they are caring and very helpful.

Dr. Frazier knows his stuff. Not only is he a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, he has a lot of experience in his field and it shows. He offers very advanced surgical technique options. Definitely recommend him.

Office staff is rude, unprofessional and makes terrrible errors, Dr. Frazier never followed up after prescribing tests and is very arrogant

After seeing 15 prominent surgeons and having a failed surgery at HSS, a matter of coincidence and two recommendations brought me to Dr. Frazier. The initial consultation lasted two hours and he explained how his truly minimally invasive approach works. He was the first surgeon who I trusted with my multi level fusion and he promised me a high success rate. The surgery at St. Barnabas was text book and I was back to work eight days after surgery. I had my six week follow up today and I'm off pain meds and walking a mile a day. Thank you Dr. Frazier-you are truly a great surgeon and life saver!

Although the Hospital had no control over the wait time which was a bit uncomfortable, Dr Frazier and Dr. Carrer helped me feel fully confident and calm before the procedure. Dr. Frazier noticed that several of the hospital assistants were removing items from a table that contained an instrument that needed to stay sterile. He firmly made them aware of this carelessness, and they responded quickly and respectfully. I was amazed at Dr. Frazier's complete awareness and competency all around him. I was happy as I fell into unconsciousness. I'm ready to continue my road to recovery!

I totally concur with another review here about Dr. Frazier's demeanor. He is very,very curt and short with questions. Rude at times. I actually got into a full out argument with him, post-surgery because after 3 months my pain had actually gotten worse. I have been with my wife for 29 years and she was shocked to see me argue with someone because i literally get along with everyone. Frazier sent me to someone else to determine the level of pain that I was really in (as if I lied) and the 2nd doctor totally confirmed how much pain I was in post-surgery. Then when I tried to set up a followup with Frazier, the office would not even pick up my phone calls. After 2 days, I had to call from a different phone number to reach someone and they said he was in Africa. Later that day, I called from a 3rd number to set up an appt. (without mentioning who i was) and they said he was in office this week and could see me in a day or two. I told them to have him call me back immediately and he did… and that's when the argument occured. I haven't been back since that argument. After all of that, I feel that he probably did very well with my surgery, but after telling me pre-surgery that i would be pain free immediately after surgery (and i was for about 4 days until the pain came back much worse) it took about 7-8 months before the pain subsided before I could comfortably move around on my own. He is a very skilled surgeon, probably one of the best in the country, but he is TERRIBLE with patients and follow-up. I have no clue why all of this drama happened. Maybe he is very protective of his reputation when the things don't go as planned. But that does not account for his pre-op rudeness.

I chose Dr. Frazier because of his experience performing XLIF surgeries. I knew that selecting a doctor with significant experience greatly increases my chances of a successful surgery. What I greatly dislike is his poor bedside manner and the way he communicates with patients. He has a gruff demeanor and is not compassionate. During my follow up visits he doesn't give me much time; I actually feel as if he is rushing to get the appointment over with and even at one time he said not to call or come back and see him for 6 weeks. I had many concerns and fears post op and I needed reassurances and I had detailed answers and he didn't project patience with my questions, more like annoyance. You just performed spine surgery on me, I'm going to have a lot of questions, try to understand that aside from your busy schedule. After my surgery he didn't even meet with me. All in all, a good doctor for spine surgery, but he seriously needs to work on his bedside manner. I don't think I will be… returning to see him because I just don't feel comfortable with his personality. I just don't feel like a priority during our appointments. He needs to understand that some patients don't have the medical erudition he does so he should not look surprised or annoyed by patients legitimate questions.
