Dr Askin completed his residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in internal medicine. He was employed through the Veterans Administration at the University of Pennsylvania as a hospitalist in the medical intensive care unit prior to fellowship.
He completed his fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in 2013. He served as a hematologist and medical oncologist in Queens, NY for 10 years prior to joining the Medical University of South Carolina. He served as lab director for his practice in NY and has held multiple academic appointments.

Dr Atkins is a very caring doctor. If you have to be ill or need an excellent physician, he is highly recommended. He makes sure you understand why you are sitting in his office, why you are taking a test and the next steps upon the results of the test. You are an integral part of the process. He recently went to bat for me with my insurance company for tests which I definitely needed. The outcome of the tests indicated I required medical care immediately. Again, if you have to seek out an oncologist, you would be fortunate to end up in his office. He cares about his patients and that they receive the best care he can provide.

Dr. Askin is very patient, answers all your questions and gets to the root of the problem. I would and will refer this Dr. To friends and family.
