Dr. David William Bliss, MD

After being extremely ill, Dr. Bliss performed an emergency surgery on my bowel perforation. He diagnosed me with Crohn's Disease. At the time, I was only 16 years old and I required 2 additional surgeries in which Dr. Bliss performed. Dr Bliss is extremely patient, caring,and witty. He helped me cope with the diagnosis of Crohn's, which was very difficult for me at the time. He is an amazing surgeon, and I am thankful that he saved my life. I miss the fact that he is no longer in Portland, OR. But I still communicate and try to stay in touch with him.

Dr Bliss is the uter defenition of a surgen and doctor...were still in the hospital while my son recovers from surgery but i had to find a site to rate him.....hes amazing...an expert at what he does...my son came through ER and was sent home told its a virus hes fine..we rrturned the following day as soon as doctor bliss was called he diagnosed our baby n rushed him into surgery and ultimatly saved our little mans life....he was extremly caring composed and professional...answered every single question we had with a explatiom we were able to understand and mout doctor language...i can go on and on and write an essay on Dr Bliss's excellance but i will just some it up...god forbid if ur child is to ever nees surgery I hpe u are s blessed as we were to have DrBliss as ur surgen.

I cannot recommend Dr David Bliss more highly. He met with us about 1 week after we received the diagnosis that our 20 week fetus had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and he was amazing. He was caring and empathetic and took his time explaining her condition and what to expect. He made everything very understandable and he gave us hope. Initially, we were told our CDH babies had only a 40% chance of survival - Dr Bliss says it is more like 75-80%. After meeting one other pediatric surgeon in the area, we decided Dr Bliss would be the one we wanted to do the operation. Between his skill and his bedside manner- he was the one we wanted to go through this experience with. During the 19 days it took for our daughter to stabilize he was wonderful. He has operated on our daughter twice now and she is now a healthy, happy 10 month old and I will forever be grateful to this man. You are in excellent hands with him. Also, there are not many surgeons with his gentle bedside manner. He is so… caring and sweet with the children, and patient and understanding with the parents. I have met many pediatric surgeons and he is truly one of a kind.
