Dr. David John Carlson, MD

The staff was absolutely awesome, and the doctor isn't a bad guy, definitely not the sympathetic type, but I came in a few weeks ago really worried about general but also stress induced anxiety, as well as some issues relating to depression, and this wasn't even close to the first time I'd set up a meeting to discuss these topics. I have been taking all kinds of prescribed SSRI's in different doses over the past couple years. The most recent prescription was an anti-depressant sleeping pill, which did nothing to help either. A behavioral scientist, was brought in (who I loved) that would give me questionnaires used go get a baseline anxiety and depression review as well as progressive reviews pertaining to the level of stress I usually feel. I came to her again and tested with higher anxiety scores, agreed the antidepressant nightly ssri was not effective for my affliction, and at this point I had made it clear that I was really struggling with these issues on a consistent basis. She… forwarded her findings to a psychiatrist, I'm not sure what the psychiatrist ended up recommending, or if Dr. Carlson will even accept her suggestion. I'll find out this coming Monday. The worst part of it, is that I tell them about my panic attacks, and I've received no help with that issue. It happens somewhat frequently and is usually related by a trigger, but I've learned how to deal with it the best I can. If it happens at the wrong time, it has the possibility to negatively effect my work or relationships, so I'd really like to get it figured out. I graduated college this past May, and so far, after five years of his treatment for my anxiety I'm right where I was in the beginning, honestly I might be worse. in the past whatever anxiety medications I've been prescribed seemed more like a guessing game to him. "Oh this one could be good" - You know the good ol' trial and error approach. There are thousands of anti-anxiety medications! I don't have time to try every one. I really hope that what is prescribed next after suggestions and chats with the behavioral scientist and psychiatrist, something effective will be suggested and approval by DR. Carlson. Otherwise, I have to find another practice that can provide more accurate diagnosis of issues relating to mental health, as well as the right treatments.
