Dr. David Spencer Darley, MD

After having a tonsillectomy I was given 6 days of pain medication. Leaving me without anything on a Sunday. I called the after hours number because I was in extreme pain. The call service operator was very rude and unprofessional telling me to call back in the morning at 830am. I went a full 24 hours in the worst pain of my life, I could not drink, eat, or sleep. After calling at 830 am I did not receive a phone call. Around 11 am my husband ended up having to drive me to the office to ask in person for a new prescription for pain medication. My follow up appointment was with the nurse practitioner who is both pompous and rude. She completely ignored any questions and rushed me out the door. I would not refer or recommend this office for services nor would I return.

My daughter had to have surgery which was big. Out regular ENT couldn't the surgery and suggested Darley. He was able to remove a cyst that was really big. It actually destroyed the bone (hole in her skull) in the upper ear canal and the cyst was pushing on the brain membrane. After the surgery, Darley acted like it was all better. It's been about 8 months. My daughter still has blood coming out of her ear and she's in constant pain. She's gone back to see him several times and he dismisses her. This is so ridiculous. The last time she went to his office, she saw his PA and that was a mistake. She basically said just live with it and take ibuprofen for the pain. Darley wants her to go back in Oct for another surgery to see if the hole in her skull has healed. Also, he put a hole in her ear drum!! Not a good follow up doctor. He should be more caring after surgery.

For the past 4-5 months I have been trying to drain my ear that has been clogged from an illness. I went to my family practitioner and he tried antibiotics and steroids but no luck. He referred me to an ENT specialist. Dr. Darley is who I ended up with. I never saw Dr. Darley. He sent his PA. She's knows less than my family practitioner, so what's the point of going to the specialist. I left with no treatment or suggestions. Complete waste of time and money. I can't recommend this "specialist".

I brought lab results from another clinic showing that I have hashimotos etc. I also have been taking pictures of rashes caused by the sun, frequent bruising, mouth ulcers, blanched fingers, all of the hair the keeps falling out of my head etc. These are all Lupus symptoms and I haven't even listed everything I'm struggling with that makes it plain that an autoimmune problem is to blame. Dr Darley, on my first visit, ordered labs and today said that basically they were all normal despite high white blood cell counts, low sodium and elevated liver enzymes. He tried to tell me that I don't have autoimmune problems knowing full well that the blood tests are not reliable. I had to point out that my reaction to the sun is a hallmark symptom of lupus and that I also have hashimotos (which is another lupus symptom). He admitted to not even looking at the labs I brought with me on my first visit and finally looked at them after I was insistent that he look. He then told me that his lab… didn't run the test that he ordered originally (he wasn't even going to tell me that from the word go). I have hair loss, cysts in my bones and a degenerative spine that began in my early 20's (I'm now a little over 30) that he just says is somehow weird and unexplainable. DO NOT GO TO THIS DR!!! He doesn't care about you and will not take the time to figure things out. He told me he had to ask a dermatologist friend what to do to address hair loss....um how about you check iron levels in a patient before you just start telling them to go get Rogain for women. He didn't even look at my iron to see if that was the issue. He is incompetent. It's blatant that I have autoimmune issues but because the blood work isn't providing the magic numbers he's refusing to treat me even with all of the writing on the wall. Even when I still had questions he just got up and left after about 5-7 minutes of talking to me (and while I was crying because I was so frustrated at the incompetence, lack of answers and lack of help) just so that he could get to the next patient. He said he would order x-rays of my lower back to see it's current status due to excruciating pain and then decided not to. Like I said he just walked out. I even told him that I'm not recovering well from an injury and am about to lose my job over it which is why I'm seeking help. He also stated he would update my health records to indicate that I had hashimotos but I did not hear him tell his staff to do that and he didn't stop to do it before running into another room with a patient so I highly doubt he will even follow through with that. He has no vision and refuses to see the big picture. Again...I was nigh sobbing and he didn't care one bit or even pause to double check things. It's all about money, not cures, not help. Don't go here. I've been fighting for years for help with these health problems and conventional medicine just continues to leave everyone out to dry. Go see a functional medicine dr if you're looking for serious help. They're the only ones who have actually helped me. P.S. he ordered another blood test to make sure the lab did the right one and then before walking out said he would only follow up with me via a phone call and that he would update my records for "transfer of care". In other words, he thinks he already knows the outcome of the next test and has no intention of looking further into my blatant health condition. I'm not even sure I want to waste the money to get it done at this point since he seems to apparently believe it won't make a difference. I'd also love to know just who he plans to "transfer" me to. That was never even discussed.

As I read in another comment, this man can not keep his hands off his private parts. I have seen him three times. Twice he would take a handful of his "junk" make it comfortable and then sit. No trying to hide the need! I don't care what he knows, which wasn't much!

He was the most unprofessional doctor I have ever been around. He was so nice pre surgery, but after was so short and not really caring about me. I waited one hour for him my 3rd follow up visit for him to come in for five minutes to tell me everything looks good, not to mentioned scratching himself (below the belt) over and over in front of my wife. After telling him my hearing hasn't improved every time I went for follow ups the last scheduled visit he told me I need surgery again...... Or a hearing aid?!?! Which with the condition I had, I can't get water in my ear or I get ear infections, caused by a whole in the eardrum. So in my eyes he's saying I'd might have to deal with it the rest of my life. I'm 32, no thanks! Went for a second opinion, where a second surgery was performed.. He found a price of PLASTIC left in my ear... If anyone is reading this. I would never consider him!!!

I recommend Dr. Darley for severe neuro diseases. He is very friendly and takes the time needed to answer questions. He is prompt on any day but Friday, when he is heavily booked.

He was one hour late for the appointment, short, and made my wife feel uncomfortable.

Very professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, they were unable to help with my form of tinnitus.

Dr. Darley is so amazing. He is excellent at what he does. He cares about each patient and takes it personally. I have Ben very sick, and prior to Dr. Darley I went to 4 doctors. He is the first one that has helped me. He even prayed for me because I was so sick. There is no other doctor like him. I tell everyone about Dr. Darley!
