Dr. David Favreau Fardon, MD

Dr. Fardon has treated me nonsurgically for several years. He is the first doctor after many who has brought me relief from my back pain.

I was referred to Dr. Fardon for surgery consultation about my back injury. The minute he walked into the room, the atmosphere became very uneasy, cold and above all judgmental. He did not even shake my hand when I tried to introduce myself. (he did not introduce himself!) The first and ONLY questions he asked me was, "Who sent you to me? And, "What makes you think I can do anything for you?" I answered who referred me and informed him my appointment was for a surgery consultation. I started to explain when and how I received this injury, and then began to fill him in on what procedures and medications other Dr's and clinics have already performed on me up to this point. The absolute second I mentioned medications, the already cold environment turned to freezing. From that point forward, I felt like I was treated like a complete drug addict. He did not listen to a word I said, would not look me in the eye once and began to tell me that all of the pain meds are what is causing me such… pain. I'm on ONE medication! As we reviewed my latest MRI, you could clearly see my L5 S1 disc looked like a smashed Junior Mint. It was a third the size of the rest of my discs except 1 other disc in the middle of my back that was starting to become damaged as well. It was completely black and smashed between the two vertebrates. He proceeded to tell me that would not cause any pain to anyone, especially someone so young, I'm 37. He told me word for word, "Let me be clear, I will not prescribe you any pain meds what so ever, so I don't even know what brings you into my office." I then replied, "I am in no way here for medication. I am sick of simply being dependent on meds as a treatment for my injury. I am looking to fix this injury permanently so I can get back to my normal life. He then told me he would not perform surgery, as there is nothing wrong with me, except for being over medicated. Again, I am on one medication for pain.. I asked what direction do we go from here? He said to stop taking all of my pain medications and go to physical therapy. I then told him I can't just simply stop taking my medications over night, and I can't even vacuum the living room, let alone start physical therapy after I was told by multiple Dr's that I would need surgery. Then I was told, "not my problem." I left there confused, humiliated and without any direction. This is the type of man who lumps everyone into the same bag by assumption and not evidence. The second he heard the word "medications" he treated me like I was a junkie trying to work the system. I doubt a lot of junkies show up to a prestigious hospital such as Rush asking for surgery. In conclusion, the best way I can describe this man; remember as a kid there was that really mean older couple that screamed at every child that stepped on their lawn? Well, this is that guy at work!

I had an ovarian cyst removed and the Dr in Morristown that did the surgery punctured my colon, and didn't say anything about it or do anything at the time of surgery to correct or treat it. I finally got to Dr. Fardon, and he quickly moved on it as I was in a wheelchair and had just seen him 2 months before. I had e.coli in my spine, and would have died if not for him helping me! Within 28 days I was in 3 hospitals, the first 2 didn't help me at all. I feel so blessed that I had Dr David Fardon who saved my life! Thank you and God bless you Dr. Fardon!!!

Went in with massive back pain and disc herniation... He told me to quit smoking. No follow up, no prescription, no physical therapy. Ended up in surgery shortly thereafter.
